Interesting Ampule Theory

As we all remember the ampules shown in the trailer resembles those of Alien. When the alien eggs break, they release the very first form of the xeno species. What if the SJ's had captured every species in the whole universe, or where trying to, and put the very first form in those ampules? Their objective is unknown but it is worth a thought.

That has been discussed in great detail I'm afraid ;) ... along with different Murals in each Silo (Temple) ...

I don't know who on this forum started using the word "ampule" to describe the urn-like canisters (or any other containment vessel seen in the movie Prometheus), but it's got to stop because it's as annoying as it is ignorant. Clearly this has gone viral because many are following the lead lemming off the cliff.
The word "ampule' has a very specific meaning. An ampule is a small vial having a rubber lid through which a hypodermic needle is inserted for the purpose of drawing up liquid contents for subsequent injection.
I can assure you that there are no ampules shown anywhere at anytime during the Prometheus trailer. The canisters seen in the temple are very, very far away in size, structure, and function from what an "ampule" actually is.

Well, an ampule would be used to store material for use later, and an urn... well (as according to dictionary.com):
noun 1. a large or decorative vase, especially one with an ornamental foot or pedestal.
2. a vase for holding the ashes of the cremated dead.
3. a large metal container with a spigot, used for making or serving tea or coffee in quantity.
4. Botany . the spore-bearing part of the capsule of a moss, between lid and seta.
Personally, I feel ampule fits the description better as the items in question seem to harbor some sort of goo that, no doubt, plays a large role in the film. I guess they could be used for tea and ashes of the dead, though... lol

@jacques strappe I agree with you regarding the ampules. It bugs me with all the grammatical errors, but what are you gonna do?

@Jacques Strappe: The lead lemming would be Ridley Scott.
Ripley8_David8 posted this in the other "ampule" thread you started:

Click "View Image" to see it up close. Ripley8_David8 also posted a link/URL to the original picture if you want to verify. It was Ridley and Fox who coined the term.
Here is an Ampule:
In this image you can even see David8 pulling what look to be "ampules" out of an urn:
"An ampoule (also ampul or ampulla) is a small sealed vial which is used to contain and preserve a sample, usually a solid or liquid. Ampoules are commonly made of glass, although plastic ampoules do exist.
Modern ampoules are most commonly used to contain pharmaceuticals and chemicals that must be protected from air and contaminants. They are hermetically sealed by melting the thin top with an open flame, and usually opened by snapping off the neck."

Well the Capsule could be the best way to descibe these..
Ampule could be used, just because they dont look like a Ampule, they could perform the same function and thats to store a Sample of some Material, Chemical etc.
They could be like Urns only containing matter that creates life, and not the matter of dead life.
They also act as a Egg, as a Egg contains Matter that when fertilised will create a Embryo and thus create life.
The fertilisation for the Matter/Sample is simply DNA of a Organism.
Thus these are more like Vials or Capsules than anything else.
