More Alien than lead to believe!

The mural may be one of the Alien Easter eggs mentioned. I can see this movie moving away from the original alien. RS sounds like he wants to move in a new direction, i.e., away from the xeno.

I agree. But a trace of DNA doesn't involve multiple references.

I also heard there wouldn't be an actual tie into the Alien movie until the last 18 minutes, and there are Alien Easter eggs throughout the movie. Still, many of the same Alien motif's will be present, man rape by an alien, impregnation following a rape, further body violations (ala chest bursters), 16 out of the 17 crew members dead, fear, panic, corporate greed vs. humanism, etc....

its the last 8 minutes, its even less. and we relly dont know of what will be present in it. Im looking forward to seing this movie, as it is, and its not so important that it has a direct tie in to the 1979 movie. There is the same kind of spaceship in it(derelict), i think thats enough isnt it? i remember seeing the first trailer months ago and was blown away. the recent trailers reveal to much. I really hope that this movie will stand on its own legs(as it was intended to do according to RS) instead of Relying to much to alien. Im so tired of sequels and prequels, ESPECIALLY the alien ones (alien resurection, avp, avpr) But i belive in prometheus(otherwise i wouldnt be on this forum). Just hoping it wont be tied in to alien in any korny way. A so called xenomorph is not NECESSARY for this to be a good story. I understand why people likes the "xenomorph", cuase its awesome. but like ridley ones said, "i saw him on disney land for gods sake". Maby this particular monster has been used already? Time for something new? keep an open mind folks.

I don't think AVP and AVPR technically qualify as either sequesl or prequels. To either the Alien or Predator series. They were more a mash up and if I had my way would be completely and utterly destroyed from the earth in all ways possible to do so and never spoken of again at all by anyone. I can dream, right? :-P

@ cypher. Yes you are correct. they dont qualify, i just tried to prove a point about the xenomorph creature. but yes, AVP should be thrown into a volcano and dissapear forever. you know they did a Batman vs. predator comic? and a superman vs. predator(or alien?) "haha".

By Alien DNA they will mean we wont see the Alien Franchise Xenomorph, that Xeno and even the Dog One (Alien 3) and Pred Alien (AVP2) you could draw a direct connection with the Alien one. They looked the same in every one only a few things was different. So i think this movie will not show a Face Hugger or Xeno as they apeared in Alien/Aliens... There is a scene at the every end that Ridley says we will make a direct connection to Alien and see 100% Alien DNA, he also stated in other interviews that the end of the movie will please and excite the Alien Fanboys and they also said that when you go see Rolling Stones Concert they always play their greatest Hit even as a encore. Maybe that means we will see the Eggs or something that looks a lot like the Eggs in Alien. But they are exploring other things in this movie, while some of it will maybe revolve around how the Xeno was created, there are many other aspects than can be explored in further movies. Now the Xeno is say Mankind in that chart.... maybe Ridley can explore a Xeno Bird as a new Organism or indeed further explore further down the Evolutional tree. The Eel/Worms the Mutated Crew all share DNA with the Xeno, like how Man in that Chart and Bird all came from protists.

people trying to make this into an Alien movie is getting old IMO. This movie takes place in the Alien universe, and draws ties to the 1979 Alien. The xeno has been done over and over again, and disrespected over and over again (AVP?) ISn't the fact that this story is going in a new direction exciting? I'm excited to see something different, and add some layers to the depth of the Alien universe. I don't necessarily want just another xeno movie because chances are, it wouldn't be done right anyway. PROMETHEUS TAKES PLACE IN THE ALIEN UNIVERSE, AND WILL ALLOW US TO MAKE A PROPER CONNECTION TO THE 1979 ALIEN, WHETHER THAT HAPPENS BY SHOWING US THE XENO GRAND-DADDY, AND/OR A WAY FOR THE LV-426 STORY TO MAKE MORE SENSE. THAT IS WHAT HE MEANS BY "ALIEN DNA". HE DOES NOT MEAN ITS A MOVIE ALL ABOUT THE XENO!! Is this so hard to understand?

I think that if this movie was its own "road", it will head in a direction that at some point intersects with the "road" that is the Alien story, but keep going right past it (or the two story's fork at some point, from what RS says in the last 10 minutes, and we go in the direction thats been untold). we will see that story branch off, but we wont follow it.

@Spartacus Thats what i am trying to say, if anyone thinks we will see a Xeno as in Aliens and Face Huggers in this movie including the last scene, i dont think we will see any. And i mean by that we wont see the exact Xeno or even something close. Remember the Dog Alien, Pred Alien and Super/Queen Face Hugger all look very like the Xeno and Face Hugger. Ripleys Baby in Alien Resurection however is slighly different and maybe we would see a Organism/Mutant that resembles the Alien Xeno as close as Ripleys Baby does at the very best. As i said if the Xeno was say a Cow we would not see no Cows in this movie, we may see Horses in which case we can make out a simular DNA structure from a Cow to a Horse (i mean a Cow/Horse looks nothing like a Spider or a Fish) and thus thats what we will notice we will not see the Xeno/Cow but maybe something simular like Xeno/Horse. Again i go back to the Evolution chart....... we will see Organism that shares DNA or maybe Evolves into the Xeno but we wont see no Xenos. I think the closest we will see to a Xeno Cycle would be maybe the Alien Eggs or something that looks very simular to them, at the end of this movie. Ridley and Co did say the following (maybe not word for word) 1) The end of the movie (last 8 mins) will link to/offer explanation of Alien 2) We will see for sure Alien DNA at the end of the movie. 3) Alien fans will be excited and satisfied (get there wish) at the end of the Movie. 4) That when you go to see Rolling Stones you always expect and will see them play a certain Song even as a Encore. 5) This movie will show how the Mommy met Daddy. To me that means we will see the cause/creation of the Xeno without seeing a actual Xeno but something that will connect look very close to it at the end of the movie. But that will only cover a little part of the movie, their is a lot more to the movie and answer/ask questions within the Alien Universe as to what created life, the movie will be based around those cave paintings etc. It will be about the Space Jockey, and it will feature some kind of Organism or Bio Forming substance and the potential it can have as maybe for created life. extending life, modifying life or potentially wipe out life. Surfice to say the crew get into a spot of bother, be that by comming accross something on the lose, or having tamper with something and releasing something dangerous (if you never seen fire before, you will not know that it can burn) or something is unleashed up on them via the SJ A series of actions or acidents will lead to the creation or release of the Xeno or Proto Xeno at the end of the movie. But i would image than not more than 24% of the movie will concern the Xeno. I guess like Lord of the Rings, that movie Trology is not all about the Hobits is it? The Hobit movie would be....

To me the connection might be just a SJ ship crashing in LV-426. Obviously we will see the precursor of a xeno, or how they create the different lifeforms and we will be able to determine how the xenos came to be, but then again xenomorph is not the name of the species, is a greek term from the word "xenos"=foreign and "morphe"=form which in layman terms translates to foreign organism. So technically the aliens here are "xenos" too. And big dave: troll+trilogy=trology. AWESOME

Scott already said you will see the Facehugger, in a slightly different way. Go back and watch/read the interviews......in which he has said THAT is the only direct connection the "Alien" . When he states we will see certain DNA, that is what he is speaking of. He is not dumb, he knows there are a lot of people hoping the "Alien" is in this and it is apparently not. Hence mentioning this DNA. This does not mean ships and other the connections are DNA. Those are obvious at this point. It is amazing how so many people pick apart small details of things and yet when something is told directly to you in plain terms, it is lost.

It's also amazing how often, "when something is told directly to you in plain terms," it's a bold-face lie. Accordingly, don't invest too greatly in what you are told.
