What If....?

Just Got Face-Bear-hugged
MemberOvomorphApril 21, 20122787 Views20 RepliesHey Guys, I'm new here and just enjoying the feeling of anxiety about Prometheus, but what if the creature we see in Prometheus isn't related to a classic Xenomorph at all? I'm not saying like in an evolutionary way either, but that the Jockeys let it loose just to get rid of the stupid humans. Then, after everyone dies, the newly created monster accidentally lets loose the traditional xeno in the movie AFTER Prometheus. Sorry if this has been posted before...

i would imagine if a large budget film ended that badly it would be a huge flop as the first fanboy out of the cinema would effectively kill off the movie.

But what about, your, "what if"?
What are you saying?
Nothing I've read here seems like idiocy - yes, it's plausible enough: it would all depend how it's treated.
You express the thought of no, "xenomorph", with what looks like a panic.
Well - "what if", the creature in your scenario made the xenomorph look like a fluffy bunny?
What then?
Would you still be, "anxious", or would you be booking your ticket for Prometheus 2?
All things must pass - and sometimes, something better replaces it.
A King has his reign - and then he dies.
It's inevitable.

I'm saying, in a predator-prey stand point, a species that kills humans easily and efficiently, but not as durable, fast or smart as a xenomorph
April 21, 2012
And?
Personally, I have no idea what your point is.
Maybe you should forget the xenomorph for a while, forget comparison to it and only hope that whatever you will see, will give you something of greater threat to worry about?
You speak as if the xenomorph is the greatest nightmare in the Universe.
Maybe we only thought it was?
April 21, 2012
Oooh! I like that idea!
But then again, I never said the xeno was horrible for all the universe, just humans.
April 21, 2012
Mabey during the war or whatever the Jockeys were doing with the xenos (Ridley did say that the Derelect was a bomber, and that the xenos were a kind of "weapon") that they created a natural predator to kill xenos, but after recreating it again during the Prometheus inccident, the creature had to evolve to kill humans, like an animal has to evolve when its particullar food source isn't around.
April 21, 2012
Thus making it have a "reverse evolution" and when it accidentally releases its natural food source, they can't keep up with the xenos because they either have to re-evolve or die.

There you go, my friend - now you're in the right space: "Maybe, maybe, maybe - maybe it'll be great!"
Enjoy the movie.

I concur... I hope to see all new beast in Prometheus. Anything new would be great! New is good! (Love my xenos, don't get me wrong!)

Of course, its like a classic, don't mess with it; that is the whole point of making PROMETHEUS instead of ALIEN ZERO, instead of having a limited space, now Ridley has a bigger canvas it paint an expand the universe created with the first film.
New creatures is the way to go, and is also the hard part in terms of design.
What else can be done that can amaze, surprise , engage ,and of course scare the hell out of us!!!
April 21, 2012
There was a script that toyed with the idea of going to the xeno's home world/nursery. The idea I loved most, was the idea that there were creatures more fierce than the even though they weren't as sleek.
It would be great if this concept gets realized in PROMETHUS. An idea so traumatizing, that space exploration would become an unsavory idea to a lot more viewers.

What if Ridley Scott surprises us all by having an original idea?
That would be very cool.
April 22, 2012
Didn't Ridley say we would see blueprints of the xeno so the space jockey would be a highly advanced race that helped man along but than decided that they were getting to dangerous so they designed the xeno's to destroy us.

I had a theory to the movie i posted it recently....
My theory would give good reason to...
1) Dead Jockeys, King as rein.
2) Xeno as a Bio Weapon
3) No xenos in this movie apart from end maybe?
4) Derelict parked on LV426 not crash.
5) Why SJ seem to had been woken up?
But then while my theory made some sence, it would also explain that maybe Shaws Baby could be used as a new creature and new franchise.
But my theory well could be way way off, because of one fact that Ridley said.
Thats we see how the Mommy meets Daddy in this movie, this tells me the Xeno is created from a Mother and Farther kind of event and thus good chance hints to Shaws Baby being the Xeno Progenitor and thus making my theory well WRONG!
But then while my theory explained these, how does this movie answer the below if the Xeno (as in the ones/cycle in Alien/Aliens) never existed before this movie.
1) What killed those Dead Jockeys
2) How did the Eggs get on the Derelict (if same one, if not where did the other come from etc).
If Ridley is hinted at the Mommy/Daddy plot then one would assume that the Derelict or events directly in this movie or as a consequence of events in this movie creates the Xeno and Eggs some how.

@Cryo
I think thats what Ridley is going for, a direct prequel would just maybe touch upon a bit about Space Jockeys, less about Weyland and Humans and more about Eggs, Face Huggers and Xenos.
If Ridley went that route, then what scope would he have for a 2nd movie, what does he explain? Surely the only thing to do is explain what went on the Derelict between the end of this movie and beging of Alien, Hardly much scope for a sequel if this movies explains in detail the Xeno orgins.
Ridley has wanted to add some depth to the Space Jockeys, and Weyland and both their Technolgies and Agendas.
He will explain and show the creation of the Xeno, but he feels their is much more to be explored.
And thus much more of a story to explore begind the process/technolgy that creates the Xeno and its creators.
Bit like doing a movie about how the Gun was created... when instead you could show how thats done, but then explore who created the gun and other uses/creations that Metals and Gunpowder was used for.
By exploring Weyland Orgins and Agenda and the Jockeys more than the Xenos means that there is scope to do a part 2 that has nothing at all to do with the Xeno Organism and Cycle we see in Alien.
Thus it allows us to get answers to Alien but allow Ridley to create a spin off in the same universe that does not involve the Xeno as thats been done in Alien to AR.
Maybe Ridley has some ideas of how he wanted the Xeno to turn out, if he had made Aliens, or some ideas he had about the Xeno that never managed to make it to Alien.
This movie gives him a chance to create a new Organism that he can apply those ideas to, and thus not damage the ideas that the Xeno is now accepted for.

@Kazanjo
Thats a good point....
And i guess we need to know and find out, why would someone who creates us all of a sudden want us dead?
Maybe there was two factions, just like say USA and USSR in the Cold War, the Russians created some race of Super Chicken...
The Cold War Ended, USSR collapsed, died so to speak. In future the World is ruled by the USA and its Buddies and they come across some Super Chickens that the USSR created that maybe the US knew little or nothing about.
If these Super Chickens start to mess, dabble about with the USAs stuff then maybe the USA would then want to wipe them out.
What i am saying is we was created by some of these Engineers, but the side who created us are long dead, killed off in a war with another side of their race in a long war.

@BigDave
You also have a good point
But maybe they found that it was needed for the survival of their species as we began to get more advanced and that we would be there downfall

I'm a fan of the idea that the classic xenomorphs (as seen in Alien) has been a long-used bio-weapon (possibly favorite) of the SJs and this movie has nothing to do with the genesis of that weapon, but instead we're going to be introduced to something far more exotic. One of my reasonings for this is the carving (on the ceiling it looks) of a classic Giger-esque xenomorph in a temple that looks like it has been around a while.
What I think this movie is about is humans (the creation) stumbling into the creator's laboratory, finding some nasty and infectious stuff whilst awakening a dormant creator in stasis that decides that this intrusion will not go unpunished making said "invitation" to actually be a "warning" to stay away from this planet as if it is eating from the tree of knowledge and you will positively die. Thus we hear in the trailer woes to the effect that "we were wrong".
