Chicken or the Egg?

Hi sorry if this has been discussed its bound to have, i did use search function and found only one thread on subject thats kinda not related to point i am trying ti make/find. OK... with regards to the Last 8 mins of the movie where Ridley hinted we will see Alien DNA and a link/explanation to Alien. This has given me a thought on what or how this could happen or be. That could well be defined by the Chicken or Egg Argument. If we are talking about the Chicken then that would lead to either the Proto Xeno being Shaws Baby, or created by something else that maybe happens in this movie. But then how to the Eggs get there? Laid by the Proto Xeno, or some how changing the Urns into Eggs (this assumes the Derelict is carrying the Pods to Earth as we ant seen no Eggs in Trailer). If the above is the case, then that means Eggs came after what ever may had got to the Pilot which then begs the question, what was the Derelict setting off with that would leave no home to get back to if it makes it to Earth. The other side is the Egg, If the Egg comes first then i take it that means that the Xeno is nothing to do with the mutated Crewmen, Shaws Baby or any other intervention via the Human Crew and the Space Jockey or what ever Organisms/supstances are on LV223. This would mean maybe if the Egg is first, it was created by the Space Jockey with one use and thats as a Bio Weapon to wipe out a planets life so as to start afresh.... Gotta beat a Flood has it not ;) But then again how would we explain when Ridley says this movie is how the Mommy meets the Daddy... Got to say, its been great how all the images and trailers have been done, they always keep us second guessing and when we throw up any posibilties we find clues/hints that puts holes in each Theory. Cant wait to see the movie... I just wonder if we will see the Chicken or the Egg?

the urns are, at the very least, symbolic of the eggs...even if its only RS teasing us. the mass number of them scattered among the floor like that is unmistakeable. clearly that isnt the same room that kane gets facialized in Alien, but they seem to me too similar in size, placement, and significance to have no relation to the egg. ill say it again, i really believe that the "link" to Alien is going to be brief and fleeting. I think we are going to LITERALLY see that story split off and disappear in the background of this one. sort of a "meanwhile" of when either the derelict crashes on the other planet, or we get a glimpse of the beginning of the separate story of that ship. i think we will pass right by the story of Alien, and it will be gone before you realize it.

Indeed i think we would only see rougly in that 8 mins of the end of the movie only a short portion that will link to Alien, we just dont know how much, or what. From this movies plot that we can make out from all the info we have, the only unanswered questions we have still in relation to Alien and the Derelict on LV426 are. 1) Is it the same Derelict in this movie (does it leave LV223 and go to LV426? 2) If so will we see Alien Eggs, or explanation of how they get there? 3) Will we see what happens to the Pilot from Alien? 4) What Alien DNA will be shown, will we see the Orgin of the Xeno? Looking back at the Orginal Script for Alien, there was no Eggs, only what are descibed as Urns, but ones that are desciped as Leathery rather than the more Ceramic looking ones we see in Prometheus. In the Alien script a Organism jumps out of these Urns once the lid is taken off, and this Organism is described as a Octopus... now that descipes to me Shaws Baby more than a Face Hugger. Also what David pulls out of the Urns looks Organic. I guess we will get our answers even if its in a suptle way... Are the Urns related to Eggs? I seem to think the way the Space Jockey Chair looks and works, seems to me like its some kind of Cannon, and if you look at the end, maybe thats where the Urns go? We just dont know, the biggest thing about the movie and its ending is the hint that Ridley says this movie is how the Mommy meets Daddy... if thats the case that would imply the Xeno is not created before this movie and thus the Eggs must have occuried between the end of this movie and Alien or as a cause of the end of this movie.

I'm just throwing this out there because it's something I noticed in the trailer. The Android David is actually opening one of the urns and removing what looks to be a pre-Alien organism. I believe that David is going to genetically engineer the Alien species by the very end of the film because the Space Jockey at the beginning of the trailer (and the crew members as well) appear to be infected by some form of organism that creates Hive like mentality which was already shown as an ALIEN function used by the Queen. I believe that the genetic process will be played out through this movie. In an attempt to save the humans and the space Jockeys I think david is going to create the cure which unfortunately for the rest of humanity will be the alien species.

Would someone mind pointing me to the interview in which Ridley mentions ‘Alien DNA’ and the ‘last 8 minutes of the film.’ I've clearly missed that. It is quite conceivable to me that the urns could contain a protean or fetal face-hugger that could over time modify the matter that the urns are composed of in a metamorphic cycle that converts something that resembles a stone or plastic ‘manufactured’ vessel into a leathery, ‘living’ egg or pod. One of the things that makes me feel this way is the fact that the top of the ‘eggs’ opens via 4 unfolding flaps and the thing that David pulls out of one of the urns is evocative of that geometry. In a world of truly advanced genetic and biomechanical engineering, almost anything could be possible.

I have seen several quotes where RS says, "Alien DNA, so to speak." So, RS may not be talking about the literal xeno DNA, but maybe the things that lead to the Alien, e.g., the derelict, the SJ being infected, etc.
