How many trips to the temple do they make?

I also say two trips or three? 1. the return to the ship and Vickers stopping them from getting onboard. 2. the sandstorm dash to the ship. 3. Shaw running trying to get back to the ship and ground opening up?

You're right, I just thought it would be an interesting topic. I mean how long does their false sense of security last before all hell breaks loose.

Quick question: i saw one still photo of M, H, S, D, & F walking without their helmets on. I would think it's just a publicity still photo, but it looks really smoky - film like. Like they took their helmets off once they realized there was a breathable atmosphere inside the temple. Yet in the scene where Milburn gets infected they have their helmets back on. What gives? Also, as a side note: Milburn wearing hipster glasses under his helmet is ridiculous. Definitely contacts or Laser corrective surgery. Why glasses? So that if you fall or get nudged, they can slip off your nose and land in your helmet? then you do what? Take a deep breath, open the helmet dome and adjust them again? lol

Silica....I got the feeling some them felt uncortable taking off there helmets....as for the glasses, I think it's likely there's an elastic band holding them in place under the skull cap

@Redleader I agree, at least two, maybe three trips to the site. I would arrange your timeline differently though. 1 (2) First trip they steal the urn. Sandstorm hits, maybe as a result of what they did. Shaw gets caught up in storm and is later shown bruised. Think to the scene where someone is in thought and a bruised leg is shown, presumably after sex. 2 (1) David asks Holloway how far would you be willing to go. Holloway is injected/given the black substance. Team makes a second trip. Holloway begins to age/transform. Shown trying to talk to Vickers to let them back on the ship. 3 (3) There is a third trip to the Prometheus. The scene of Shaw running as the Derelict bay opens from below. I think she is pleading to the Prometheus when she says, "Unless we stop them, there won't be a home to go back to." Vickers abandons ship. Rest of the crew rams the Derelict.

I would say at least 2, 'cause they end up examining the head/helmet of space jockey at some sort of lab. the scene that can't still figure out is on the IMAX trailer when Shaw ( wearing a white outfit) is kind of sleeping and then she awakens hitting some guy in a quarantine suit...........

People, you just have to take a look at the details on the scenes of the trailers we've seen. They'll give you the answer. The crew makes more than one trip to the temple: On their first trip Shaw wears a suit with no colored lines and the chest panel is big. On that trip they find the head, pick it up and put it in a bag. They also discover the monument and the symbols and figures on the wall. Then they return to their ship to examine the head. On their second trip, Shaw wears a similar suit but it has blue lines, the belly part is dark blue, the chest panel is shorter and she has red straps probably from a backpack unit. That is the scene where the three Space Jockey suits are shown standing up in the background while she looks at the opposite direction. They are in the derelict ship and they find the circular room where the holographic images are activated by David. On the third trip Shaw has another suit, with red lines on his belly and arms. The chest unit is small. There's a picture of her wearing that suit in the derelict ship while she's on her knees and has a white bag on her side. That's the suit she wears when the derelict takes off and she runs while the floor gates open up, and it's the same suit that Vickers wears when they run together after Prometheus crashes against the derelict (that's part of the same scene). And it's the same suit she wears when she fights against the Space Jockey, probably in the scape ship. So, three trips at last.

I would say a couple at least. To spend several years in hyper sleep only to have a 5 minute poke about doesn't make much sense.

Well put it this way I reckon the ship lands at least TWICE ... one far away and one right next to the temple opening ... you can see that on the stills and trailers ... SO I'm going twice at least ... could be more who knows ... could just be once lol ... :) ... [b]EDIT:[/b] Added image below ...

The temples must be the most interesting place and it is unthinkable that they didn´t map the whole planet from orbit before landing. My take is 3 trips at least: a) first one, they take the urn and the helmet, I think nothing weird happens because they seem not very worried when examining the throphy. b) there is a second trip where hell breaks loose: cobra, infections. c) last trip where Vickers say they will die if they go back. Maybe this time they met the blue guy, Ford is killed, Derelict flies, etc. But I´m really lost at this, mainly because I can´t see good reason to returning to the temple one more time in c).

There are at least three trips to the temple/derelict ship, and this is how I know it: [b]First trip:[/b] Shaw wears a complete blue uniform with a big chest panel. This first trip corresponds to the discovery of the temple's monument and the beheaded SJ. Now my thoughts on this: they take the head and some samples back to their ship, probably rushed by an incoming storm, because in some scenes we see Shaw with a bag on the back of the small vehicle heading back to Prometheus while the storm is near them. The scene of her being lifted by the windstorm while holding a bag could confirm my theory. They'd analyze the head on the ship later. The belly background color is navy blue. The chest panel is smaller than the previous one. She also has red bands of what seems to be a backpack unit. She is seen wearing this uniform when they enter into the ship and she's standing on a corridor while there are three SJ suits lined together against a wall. From a picture I saw, these SJ suits are right outside the circular room where David activates the holograms. There's a picture out there which shows David from behind sitting on the control chair and Shaw is in front of him on the opposite side of the room. My thoughts on this trip: they discover the derelict ship and enter into the circular room, David activates the hologram and things begin to go wrong, so wrong. Notice that when David gets into the room there are Shaw and Holloway walking behind him, so I assume that the infectious attack to the crew hasn't occurred yet. There's a picture of her inside the derelict ship while kneels with her helmet on her hand, a white bag on the floor next to her and a flashlight on top of that. This is the same uniform she uses when running on open field before the derelict ship takes off and also running along Vickers while the derelict ship is rolling down after being hit by Prometheus. She wears that uniform as well when grabbing the axe and fighting the SJ inside either the scape ship or the Prometheus after the crash (I think the first one is more likely). My thoughts on this third trip are that she goes back to the derelict ship to retrieve or take some samples with her and she then face the SJ, somehow she finds out that the derelict ship is going to take off to go to Earth so she runs away and calls the crew in Prometheus to stop it. Hey guys, I just edited my previous reply on this thread and uploaded some pics of the three different suits Shaw uses along the movie to proof my theory that they make at least three trips to the temple. Check the pics out on page 1.

@Sebastian Torres @ArcadeFool Yes you both seem right. I would say they find the temple, get the head and a urn and return back to the ship. Then they go back down again, and this time is when some of the crew get attacked by The Cobra Eel and then after we see the Fifield go berserk on the Hanger Deck. Also after this we see Holloway get back to his feet after he collapses and Vickers is hesitant to let him back on. I do think that we then see some of the crew go back down, and this gives us the scene with Shaw and David when they enter the Derelict Ship and then this is when the crew meet the Engineer.
