MemberOvomorphApr-30-2012 5:39 AMLong time lurker first time poster. Anyways, here's a theory that keeps popping in my head. Maybe its already been touched on before, idk. Peter Weyland is Prometheus, metaphorically. He is the one who drew all of the pictograms across different civilizations throughout the centuries. His punishment for helping us along, was his fellow Jockey/engineers turned him human and he is destined to grow old and die and be reborn throughout time. That is until technology finally catches up and he is able to travel back home and try and restore what he once had...... No real weight to it and it most likely will not be the case, but I Just thought it would be an interesting spin on things....
Also I think the whole "A king has his reign, then he dies. Its inevitable" speech is Vickers talking to Weyland once she reveals her true colors. At first you think she's the cold company woman, but later we're supposed to find out an alterior motive of hers. Perhaps "a king has his reign" is what she tells him right before she kills him or puts the kebosh on his immortality plans to reveal her good intentions......
Just speculation and sorry if its been mentioned already.
Peace, guys. Great site.
P.S. please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks the Weyland company logo looks exactly like the serpent/cobra like alien when it spreads open.....Possibly a creation of P. Weyland/Prometheus that almost wiped out all the engineers before they banished him to earth

MemberOvomorphApr-30-2012 5:44 AMI think people see too much about the company and subplots regarding weyland and Vickers .... the problem are others ...and we saw them in this last trailer .

MemberOvomorphApr-30-2012 5:57 AMI actually think that's a really interesting theory - original if anything.
Its a little bit hard to accept though, with Weylands rebirths over 1000's of years - not really Ridleys style.

MemberOvomorphApr-30-2012 6:10 AMYeah hard one ... but I LIKE the theory ... haven't heard that before ... would account for his knowledge for sure ... and the stuff he 'invented' ... and yeah the logo lol ... does a bit :) ...
I dunno if Ridders would go that style though ... but who knows at the moment ;) ...

MemberOvomorphApr-30-2012 6:12 AM@Enderwiggin.. Yeah, maybe that part is a little too much but I can't help shake the feeling that Weyland already knows all about the Jockeys, the planet and its possibilities and potential, long before the ship heads there.

MemberOvomorphApr-30-2012 6:22 AMI was more or less just thinking of that old saying " its better to reign in hell than serve in heaven(or Paradise). Weyland considers himself a God among men on earth but maybe he's anxious to head home. Like the Devil trying to sneak back upstairs.lol

MemberOvomorphApr-30-2012 6:26 AMThis would also equate to Weylands monopoly on androids, since that being an engineer, he had prior knowledge of the laws of biomechanics and in turn created the David series.

MemberOvomorphApr-30-2012 6:37 AMYeah, and that made me think the human sized Jockey looking dude towards the end of the old trailer, standing over Shaw is Weyland. I Believe Shaw even screams something like "JUST DIE"... Which could also refer to the fact weyland was 95 or so, pretending to be dead already while stowed away on the ship

MemberOvomorphApr-30-2012 7:02 AMThe idea reinds me of the Annunaki origins of humanity. If Weyland is an Annunaki who is serially killed then reincarnated... I have been wondering how much of the story is inspired by Sitchin and the work of people like David Wilcock.

Co-AdminMemberOvomorphApr-30-2012 7:07 AMThat's stretching it a little TOO thin if you ask me, but at least you're thinking outside the box.
I bet Ridley Scott is loving the fact that we keep coming up with stuff like this. If I were him, I'd be rubbing my hands together going, "Oh MAN, these guys are in for one heck of a mindfuck when I release this!"
And hopefully he asks some of us to help him pen his next script :-D

"Is it dead this time?" "I dunno, poke it with this stick and see."

MemberOvomorphApr-30-2012 7:29 AMHaha. Nah, stretching it too thin would be saying Weyland at the end of this film fails in his quest and dies. Only to be reincarnated in the sequel as Yutani, building that corporation from scratch just so he can merge it with his old company. Jkjk
Hell for awhile there when they showed the wall murals moving and the scene of David smiling while a small organism jumps around on top the urn, I was scared to death they incorporated parts of that dreadful "Alien Harvest" script and it wasn't a fake. You k ow the one with the insect sized Zenos? Haha

MemberOvomorphApr-30-2012 7:37 AM@yellowcak30,
This is one of the most unique and interesting theories I have seen on this site and given a little fine-tuning could end up being THE actual plot (it sounds really interesting and would definitely catch the audience off guard).
Welcome to the site and thanks for posting!

You saved yourself by saying the fake script was crap :-D
It was a good read, but that was as far as it went.
I mean, seriously? James Cameron already reduced the Alien to intergalactic ants. I think that script's author was having a go at that in all honesty.

MemberOvomorphApr-30-2012 8:10 AMIMO, I think Weyland is along for the ride for the legendary "fountain of youth". This was definitely a "one-way" trip for him and I bet he's betting all his marbles that any hope he has or extended life is cached away on LV-223.

So Wayland is a modern Gilgamesh who failed in his quest to go to the land of the gods and find imortality.
