2D for sure. I don't enjoy the 3D experience, as I'm slightly distracted. I want this movie to just exist in front of my eyes without glasses or any other hoopla. 2nd time I'll def see 3D.

3D...but not in IMAX, that's for the second viewing about 6 hrs after the first.
So much effort has gone into this I want to see it as it was planned. I'll be content with that because the home market will be 2D anyway

3D IMAX for the first viewing.... definitely. Just my preference after enjoying the Tron sequel so much in 3D IMAX.

It was intended to be 2D but Ridley mentioned in one of his videos that it really wasnt that hard to make it 3D and with all the special effects, universal scenes and holograms, it would be amazing in 3D. I will be watching both just see the difference. Probably be watching it more than twice though.

3D IMAX!!! No doubts about that.
@Bioshock
I thought Ridley said he filmed it with 3D cameras and he said it wasn't any harder than using standard equipment. This would mean that it was meant to be 3D.
Im nit-picking your comment a little, but that's because if he didn't intend it to be 3D, the conversion process is nowhere near as good as when it is filmed in 3D, ie Avatar 3D vs Clash of the Titans 3D. If this is the case, it makes me wonder if the heavy ticket price for IMAX 3D is worth it.

3D IMAX midnight opening!
After that, if it's worth it, I'll go and see it once or twice in 2D.
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born.
Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.

I think all the directors are basically "PUSHED" to "PUSH" 3D on us by the big studios. They are almost all forced to shoot in 3D. The studios, facing declining moviegoers, are looking for a "big gimmick" to get people out of their nice cozy home theaters, thinking 3d is the ticket.
IT IS NOT.
Movies that are BIG and BEAUTIFUL---like Prometheus---are the answer. The sooner they figure this out, the better we'll all be. Then maybe they'll understand what's going on. We'll watch the "little cutsie artsy" movies at home (and I LOVE art, so I'm not against that), BUT we want to see the GRANDEUR, the HUGENESS, the beauty of a BIIIIG movie on a BIIIIIG screen WITH big sound. That's it. Done. Case closed. THAT's how the studios can solve their problems.
NOT 3D.

I'll come back briefly to pick a nit...Ridley used RedOne not IMAX cameras, so the film will be re-mastered for that ratio....I don't really expect a difference, but......never know

Thanks for the tip Forever War. I'm not familiar with that, so I don't know the difference. Hopefully it transfers well to IMAX.
...Did some research, Peter Jackson used it to film The Hobbit, so I'm ok with it! lol

Two Decembers ago, 1 3D IMAX ticket set me back $18 (6 came to $108; This was for Tron: Legacy). Hopefully it hasn't gone up too much since I need 6 this go round.
I believe that 3D is being used less as a gimic and more for the 3D Blu-Ray market for all those 3D TVs in EVERY home. It's like the color TV craze during the late-60s/early-70s. Only the finest residences had one. LOL/jk
