Yep, I'll go with a new evolution...

its not a bad theory. but when do you see it escaping from the mouth in the trailer?

@korpen, You don't. No one is quite sure what it is escaping, or from where. People see what they want to see. So far, half the forum's members have seen the original Alien all over the place. I haven't spotted it once. I thought I did once, but it was the curve of one of the helmets. I made sure of that before saying anything about it. The original Alien won't be in this, nor do I want it to be. So maybe that's why I haven't seen it. But it may also be that Ridley has designed completely new creatures for this. That's what I'm hoping. And so far that's pretty much what I'm seeing, except for the Space Jockey that is.

My take. The cobra thing looks nothing like a face hugger and it behaves differently. Face huggers live in eggs and jump out, the cobra was swimming around, hisses at someone and then made a dart for their arm. It's shape and color are nothing like a face hugger at all. I'm sure other nasties exist without being related.

We do see in the new trailer something jumps out of one of the dead crews mouth, the puzzle is his helmets glass is melted before it apears from the victims mouth. We can assume its Milburn after the Corba gets into suit then enters him somewhere. But again we dont know for sure. As you could take the Orginal Face Hugger in a scene and then edit clip to Chest Burster right away and you would think that the sequence happens right after each other i.e Face Hugger plants Chest Burster who then bursts out like moments latter. So we dont know how much time passes from the Cobra that gets into Milburns Suit to the Face Melt and Organism jumping from dead person mouth scenes.

As far as the Xeno goes well i think we will see a direct link in this movie, in that 8 min scene but i think it could be just a flash back or a visualisation of a story told to David or Shaw etc, i.e like the Water Fall Scene and a not yet seen 10 year old Shaw and her Dad scene, they are in the movie but they are not set at the same time as events from Prometheus landing to Prometheus crashing into the Derelict. There are some very contradicting comments made by Ridley thats left us all pretty much clueless. He said that Giger was asked to design a backwards Evolution of the Xeno, to me thats to give some idea of how he saw the orgins of the Evolution pretty much like say how a Dinosaur is to Bird, how Ape is to Man or maybe more extream like how Fishy Things Evolve to all Mamals etc. Then there is the comment that this movie is how Mommy meets Daddy, which with Shaws Squid Baby Scene makes you think that Shaw and that Baby have something to do with the orgin of the Xeno. Then he throws a curveball in hints that the Xeno has been around for Millions or years. Thus how can the events of Prometheus be early Evolution and Orgin/creation of the Xeno. When i first saw the Trailers for this movie at about Christmass Time. When not much was known. I did notice the Squid and i thought what we are dealing with here is Bio Weapons. A AK47 and M16 are both Machine Guns, used for the same purpose, they are made from simular materials, yet they look and act slightly different. And i still think thats whats going on, the Xeno would share its DNA with the Organisms in this movie but maybe not be exactly the same, just as a Rat is to a Cat. Snake to a Lizzard etc.

Thanks BigDave I like your insight to the theory! But for some reason I wanna believe the cobra and face hunger are closely related I.e. humans are to Neanderthals... Remember the facehuggers life cycle is quick and short after it attacks its host. I wanna assume the same about the cobra, but obviously I could be totally wrong. Back to the evolution thought, couldn't we assume the cobra could change its evolutionary tree line faster than expected? Much faster? Remember a xenomorph seems to change from infancy to adulthood sooooo damn fast, so why couldnt the spacecobra evolve almost as fast if related... I realize on earth evolution takes generations upon generations to take shape. But these specimans obviously are not earthly. One last little blurb. I also wanna believe that these creatures were not created by another species. I believe they may have been found and cultivated for military use as some posters have stated. Maybe we see the jockeys running away in the hologram due to the creatures escaping and jockeys wanting to get out ASAP so not to be wiped out... Again this is a friendly theory of my own mind. I hope more comments come in to expand or even enlighten my ideas!
