My take!

In the new "Extended Featurette", someone is narrating about finding our origins, "Where do we come from? What is our purpose" that person is Weyland (I know this because we have a member here who works for the press who got to see a special preview, which he very kindly broke down for us. I will try and find the links to that thread and add them here). Apparently Weyland is supposed to be dead by the time the crew see this speech, but I agree with you and I think he is actually on the ship. A powerful man like him would never accept defeat, it would make sense he wants to find a fountain of youth of sorts. Also in that script they flash Watts to Vickers: On this expedition your gonna be out of touch with earth for 5 years. If your as valuable as you say you are and I don't doubt that. How can Mr Weyland do without you so long. Those first words of Weyland are powerful

Weyland appears as a hologram after they all wake up from cryo-sleep FACT.

I don't know about that for sure the end part about being so close is talking person to person.

@BuckTornado I agree dude, Weyland as the space jockey makes cinematic sense. Here's why-> In some round about way I'm thinking the Engineers in Prometheus will symbolically represent a potential evolutionary pitfall of man if he continues down the path of cold-hearted scientific progress at the expense of humanitarian values (such as compassion). In many ways Weyland Industries and specifically Weyland himself represent this attitude as it exists within our society today (and the near future) as corporate ambition/imperialism at the expense of such values (same theme is present in "Alien"). Subsequently its quite clear that a parallel is being drawn between Weyland Ind. and the Engineers (think terraforming) that is going to be the driving force behind this movie. This is why thematically it would be interesting to see Peter Weyland (if he is in fact still alive) mutate into an engineer as it would further illustrate this parallel between them.

@B1-66ER - I sort of agree with what you are saying I think. I believe Ridley is sending a message that the more we medle with science the closer we come to our end - thus the Engineers destroyed themselves by their creations...... Also I believe the guy in the wheelchair is Holloway. But I wouldn't be surprised if Weyland is on board the Prometheus......
