MemberFacehuggerMay 02, 20122203 Views32 RepliesI have just got back from watching The Avengers in the Cinema I have booked my 1st Prometheus vewing on 2nd June ( 1st June Sold Out )
An hour into the film, just when the plot was building and the characters were bouncing off each other ( Loki locked in a glass cage part ) the Cinema had a power cut!
We left in the dark and somewhat disgruntled, however I could only think what if this happened in Prometheus!
All was thinking is what i would do, cry at first, then drive from town to town like a mad man looking for a cinema with a spare seat!
What would you do if this nightmarish disater happened on your first veiwing?

Try to make the best of my time... maybe boink one out while I wait.
In every case of power-outage I've been exposed to, the power eventually returned, so I will safely bet that this trend will continue if this movie theater scenario were to play out.
I just feel bad about whoever might be sitting in the seats in front of me...

walk right up to the theater mgr if possible and ask politely for a rain check.

Id attack the projector booth, steel the film real and watch it at home using a flash light and making up the sounds myself

I may have ' bonked one out' in the Avengers, however i was right in the middle seats with a ginger male friend that i haven't known too long, with lots of other cinema folk passing by............
However, i feel finding another cinema for Prometheus like a mad man would be option No 1 for me.

You know was worst than that, I'm from the caribbean and we always had power outages there but most decent Cinemas have their own power plant However I remember as a kid watching Raiders of the Lost Ark and the power cutting-out during an action pack scene only to have the movie jump ahead a couple of scenes when the power plant kicked in a few seconds later!

For the record we sat there for 20 mins in the dark and were told to leave.......
All 20 screens in the dark...........
Imagine if all 5000+ members on this website were in the cinema and this senario happened.,,,,
Who would be first to hang the projectionist...?

5000 angry Prometheus fans from this site could be the most dangerous unstoppable force ever... Yes, more dangerous than Xenomorphs.

Mabye a Juggernaut could deposit a few thousand eggs in the cinema complex and see if a Supefan Xenomorph could be created?
God help that projectionist!

I would go into meltdown mode, spinning around the cinema spewing a whitish liquid from my mouth. All the other cinema goers yell out....
"He's a goddamn robot....."
It'sLikeAnAnthiveMay 02, 2012
@ klaatu lmfao & then we will proceed to hack into 'mother' and restart the movie.
In reality, I'd burst into tears and start a riot.

I have had this happen once before, at a Harry Potter screening. I flipped my shit so bad. If it were to happen during Prometheus, I would lose it entirely.
Bishop is Bae <3

Take a Newt look alike with you.....Seek out the cinema manager and say...."Why don't you put her in charge?".
Their reply would be "You have my sympathies"
AAAAAARRRGGHH...Rage warning ahead.
Damn it feels good to be a gangster.

You know, I have no idea what I would do. I have never thought of it. Thanks for bringing up the idea. Crap, hope it doesn't happen to anyone.
Last year my wife and I were at the drive-in, and like in some commercials, or movies, the film actually melted from the bulb during the previews. LOL, it was like, did this actually flippin happen? I thought it was part of the preview or a joke. It was really funny though. Everyone was looking at each other saying what the hell? LOL.

Rainchecks/refunds are common practice for these type of occurrences. It has happened to me at least once in all my movie-going years. There should have been an announcement after the lights went up and vouchers being handed out as you exit good for another showing.
On another note. Seen the movie. You didn't miss much. ; )
If this happens during my IMAX 3D Prometheus viewing (6 tickets = $108), I would be unrestrainable. They'd need to call in the men in white to haul me off. ; )

@MVMNT
Yes the VUE complex in Birmingham, full refund pending, hopefully goldclass upgrade
Point is I have booked my Prometheus tickets there, chances of it happening again are hopefully zero.......
ubik333May 03, 2012
I have never been to a VUE showing, however I used to go to a couple of showing at the former Warner Village cinemas before VUE's acquistion. As for the power-cut at the cinema, the last time I experienced it was in the late 1970s, LOL.
I shall be at BFI IMAX and it should not be a problem wrt power supply.
