P R O T E U S . . .

I was just trailing through some of the other names within the annals of greek mythology and mythology in general and I came across the name P R O T E U S. There are a few versions or what it stands for. One is that he is the Son of Posidion, who was a bit of a lazy god, lounged around upon the sea shore amongst the seals! Why is anyones guess! Anyway, he had the inate ability to change shape at his own will except getting him to ever tell the truth upon a matter was an endeavour to say the least! He was also capable of fore telling the future but was reluctant to willingly do so. If he was held captive long enough by such individuals as Aristaeus and Menelaus they woul, in turn, force him to pronounce unto them the desired prophecies they sought. And yet another account, Helen of Troy was subsituted with a spirit whom went to the city of Troy in her place with the woman: Paris while at the same time the real Helen of Troy was, in turn, brought and kept safe in a cave by Hermes or in some accounts, Paris herself. There she allegedly awaited until Menelaus (her husband) returned from his time away in the city of Troy. Other accounts speak of he - P r o t e u s - as the Sea-God. As the analogy of Prometheus as the Titan God who stole fire from heaven and gave it to 'Man' and as a result was punished by Zeus for his defiant insolence was the analogy of Humans from the ship the P R O M E T H E U S attempting to aquire knowledge and technology from the 'First-Comers' to ancient Earth. And as a result in an attept to usurp the knowledge from the alien 'Gods' they, as Zeus, are going to bring their wrath to bear upon the jumped-up-little-up-starts as punishment as-well-as their just-deserts for this act of defiance. An analogy can be drawn for sequel potential with regards to the name P R O T E U S as talks of shape-shifting at will, fore-telling the future and seeking the truth from a reluctant source. All this could be written in a subtle way of tampering of technologies and manipulating the 'truth' to suit 'ones self' (human beings) or an 'orginizations self ' (The Company even?). Possibly 'F E T U S' could be the third instalment as all words have a loose similarity with 'us' tailing the end. The use of the term F e t u s plays into the whole concept of the 'birthing' of new life-forms, whether pleasant or un-pleasant, bio-engineering, DNA tampering, cloning, you name it, the list is endless in it's potential. Or the third instalment, if ever made, could be called 'C R O N O S'. C r o n o s was one of the younger, if not, the youngest of the Titans. He led a Titan revolt against the God Elders and in turn castrated Uranus, his father, and seized his throne in the final act of defiance. A warning was issued to him fore-telling that his children would, in-turn, dethrone him in a 'you reap what you sow' counter-movement against him. So as a result, he set about devoring each one of his children in succession as they were born. Z e u s was saved by Rhea whom gave to C r o n o s a large pebble to swallow that was wrapped up in babies clothes. Z e u s, thus, served-up a drink for C r o n o s of emetic potency. As a result of this act it, in turn, made C r o n o s regurgitate the pebble and thus children along with it. They re-emerged from his mouth unharmed and subsequently killed by his son Z e u s during the war of the Titans and the War of the Elder-Gods. In a second account of the outcome Z e u s, after killing his father C r o n o s, ultimately became eventual ruler of the Ilses of the Blessed and was so depicted a varing times as having three pairs of wings upon him. So all this mythology colud be laced up in a nice analogy to Humans still attempting to exceed their limits of exploration and aquire their space-faring power and dare-I-say, their eventual 'dominance' over the galaxy...
