Phrygian Cap - Temple

MemberOvomorphMay 06, 2012973 Views10 RepliesAnyone notice that the temples are in the shape of Phrygian caps? Associated with and worn by gods such as Mithras and Attis. The Greeks, from who we get the myth of Prometheus saw the cap as symbolising Non-Greek [b]Barbarism[/b]. Interesting that inside the cap shaped temple, there is a giant head. Maybe something, maybe nothing.....any thoughts?

The Romans had a different slant and Mithras was seen as a liberating god whose symbolism was very planetary. Later the blood red phrygian cap was reprised in the French revolution.
