II LIB3RTY II
MemberOvomorphMay-08-2012 10:45 AMHi all, been a lurker here for quite some time and finally decided to jump into the discussions.
Here are some alternative plots I thought about for Alien 3. They both involve the hero becoming the villain which I think would be very shocking and a fresh twist on things rather than trying to copy the plot of the first 2 movies.
They both start with Ripley, Newt and Hicks being picked up by a civilian ship heading to colonize a new planet a few years after the events of Aliens. From here the story could go 2 ways.
1. Ripley and Newt become sick, and tests show their DNA changing. Hicks does not appear to be infected. The story involves Ripley and Newt eventually becoming less and less human in their bhaviour and eventually appearance. Not turning into Xenos, bt something else. The film revolves around Hicks' conflicting emotions having to fight the two of them and also Ripley and Newts parent-child relationship becoming stronger and more primitive as they evolve.
2. All seems fine aboard the ship until Ripley begins seeing signs of Alien presence. The film revolves around her trying to hunt the creature she believes to be aboard and trying to convince others of its existence. When brutal killings start happening the crew of the ship get behind her and go hunting, only to find no trace of the creature. The plot twist comes when one way or another it si revealed that Ripley is not of sound mind. The events of the previous movies has diminished her sanity and she has become plagued by terrifying hallucinations. We learn that she has been the one commiting the attacks on the Crew but she refuses to accept it. This plot could perhaps end with either Newt and Hicks revealing the truth to her and getting her to hand herself over to the authorities onboard the ship. Another alternative would be Ripley seeing the crew as a threat to her, believing them to be WY trying to capture her for sinister purposes. In the end Hicks is the only one capable of getting close enough to her to take her down, which he does in a very emotional scene.
These 2 plots could do with some thickening up, but as they stand, what do you think? Which of the 2 is better in your opinion?

the walls are alive
MemberOvomorphMay-08-2012 10:50 AMThere is a rejected script of Alien 3 that shows the aliens being able to spread a airborne disease that causes alien transformations in a space station orbiting earth, the crew and even the space station are turned into a hive. Alien 3 was torn in too many directions by the time production actually got going. I really liked Gollic's "dragon worship" more of that would have been great, a battle against the devil would fit in quite well with the religious themes of the movie

There was an Alien comics with xenomorphs being adored like sacred things. Is that the one you refer to as Gollic's "dragon worship"?
One thing that strikes me is that one of that comics passages actually happens in Alien 4 [the one where a dude gets a chestburster right through his forehead]

MemberOvomorphMay-08-2012 12:20 PMthere have been many news stories recently of extremely young mothers both in Europe and the US. storyline #1newt becomes ill... how shocking would it have been if newt had given birth to a hybrid as Shaw may or may not be doing in Prometheus? the scandal would still be raging!
