Another Alien Movie with Sigourney Weaver?

Rumours are that Sigourney Weaver is interested in making one more, final Alien film in the role of Ripley, and with Prometheus' upcoming success in the box office (fingers crossed) the likelihood of an "Alien 5" is possible. Also remember that before the AVP's were made James Cameron, Ridley Scott and Sigourney Weaver were formulating such a film - in which James cameron was to Pen the screenplay and Ridley Scott was to direct. But the move by Fox to make AVPR, in the opinions of Cameron and Scott, killed the motivation to make such a film. As a result Scott decided to pursue the project that had been festering inside of him - who is the dead guy in the big chair in Alien, or as we know it - Prometheus. Personally, Although I penned a possible Alien 5 on this site a while back, which I turned into a screenplay and has since been amended (set on earth, more corporate conspiracy and more insight into Ripleys past - to those that remember), I feel that such a film would serve the franchise no favours and the expectations of the fans are too widespread to ensure both commercial and critical success.

I personally doubt the Derelict was affected by the nuclear blast of Hadleys Hope's atmoshpere processor - all claims that the Derelict was 15-20km away from the colony just don't make sense - wouldn't the colonists have seen it in the 20 years they were there if it was that close. Therefore I believe it was further away and thus safe from the explosion. But, another story would be needed to show why the USM didn't just go to LV-426 and grab some eggs... Which is why I am penning such a screenplay to explain away that element, amongst others (Hadley's Hope, special order 937, Bishop II etc.) under the working title "Alien Revelations", but I have to watch Prometheus first because of some elements in the story regarding the Derelict.

I think they should have ended the story around Ripley with Alien³. Further Alien movies I would like to watch without her character. But it could only make sense if the Alien / Xenomorph species were not only created in the Derelict from ALIEN or Prometheus. Because all eggs in the Derelict might be destroyed by the reactor's explosion in ALIENS.

If they are just going to make another survival horror sci-fi then i guess it is better not to create another story. if they are going to build some storyplot of aliens and weyland plot, i don't mind.

i dont rekon they are even the same ships. i dare say an ancient space faring race would have more than one ship. the ship in the new film appears to get rammed by the prometheus and there fore destroyed apart from being in the same universe this new film just alerts the company to this race of beings. they get destroyed in the new film and rediscovered elsewhere by the warning beacon in the original movie. ridley scott is not gonna tow the fan line with this film. this is gonna be fresh. and probale gonna piss off some fans.

Alien has been done to death.... And if we give in to Weaver well she would want to do a Alien 6,7,8, etc Untill we get to the point of casting her without the need for Weyland style old person make up lol.....

As much as I like her, I wouldn't want to see an Ellen Ripley with a cane and serum up her vains giving birth to yet another Queen Bi**h. Neither would I enjoy a Mecha-Ripley, now that the cloning is done. And please... NO ANOTHER ACTRESS TO PLAY HER ROLE!

How about Cameron and Weaver just stick to makin Avatars. Their right good at that.

This would be as bad as Arnold coming back and doing another Predator movie. The time has past when the idea was viable, the actor/actress is too old, and there is no amount of CGI or money that could make the idea work. While were at it lets bring Harrison Ford back for another Indiana Jones...oh wait George Lucas heard me and is now writing Indiana Jones 6 (no really, I'm not kidding).

The character of Ripley has had its' run. Really, it should have ended with the third film. Alien Resurrection was a joke, IMO, but it exists, so it has to be dealt with in at least one respect - The Company and/or military had to create the Queen from the Ripley clone because the explosion of the atmosphere generator on LV-426 took the derelict ship, and the cache of eggs, with it. I always assumed she was their last chance of corralling the species. That would sort of preclude anything of substance between the events of Alien 3 and Resurrection (200 years), wouldn't it?
