I don't know if anyone noticed this: Look at her abdomen, she has the scar - before the removal of whatever it is that is inside of her. * Picture is from http://geekwordofmouth.blogspot.co.uk, and his article with picture stills from one of the trailers .

It might as well be a bruise, since she appears to be a bit beaten up anyway (just look at the bruise on her right thigh, just on the right border of the picture).
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born. Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.

@Mark Cawley I think the acid is in fact a creature and the person on the left is Shaw. I think this scene is the first and then we see Shaw moving her head to the corpse of Milburn (and the creature goes quickly from the mouth of the corpse to attack Shaw). Although we can not ignore the simplest explanation (Occam's razor) Shaw is shaken by the sandstorm hurting the womb Or maybe there were other problems in the pyramid... Then it may be because of infection or pregnancy...but...It would be possible that Vickers and company have been using Shaw as an incubator in secret (horrible experiments)...maybe it's a guinea pig for the dark Weyland plans.

It seems there's a scar there. Actually it looks like two scars. Unless it's the creature pressing through?

I agree with ZetaReticuli, the scar of the photo is vertical and antique-looking (a surgery in the past maybe) on the other hand Svanya makes mention to a horizontal scar and artificial origin. But who knows, and surely our little friend "squid" has something to do...

Personally, I find it a little hard to see a, "scar". Seems likely that it's shading caused by a creasing of her skin/depression in her flesh. If I call that a scar, then, surely, I would also have to call the vertical depression in her flesh below her ribcage, formed by the abdominal muscles below her ribs - a, "scar"?

Those last 2 pics are interesting..........where it looks like either the cobrathingy is shooting into another guys helmet......or spitting acid at them.

If you mean the vertical depression between her ribs above the navel Katie, that looks like a natural anatomical feature. I'm positive that's just her sternum there with sweat beads making it look rough like scar tissue.

I know its a long shot, but what if she'd already had a child on earth? But maybe it died? So that's why her new birth is especially disturbing? :S

These might answer your question. Really good reads. Hmm, Biomechanic had posted Gifs here too but they are gone for some reason. the pic above is that guy with the glasses that we see in the new UK trailer that got attacked by the white alien "cobra" creature...It caused the melt down of his space suit glass helmut apparatus. What exactly does this "cobra" creature, the Urns, and the (yet to see alien creatures) and the Engineer have to do with eachother? we will have to wait to see... Shaw definitly has a small hole-like scar just below the sternum of the chest...It is, because it appears to be a downward dimple type of scar, which is an indication that something was used to penetrate and puncture through her upper abdomen...which makes sense, because on a recent twitter spoiler that has been going around from some interviewed woman in the UK who claims to had seen an advance screening of the movie, had stated in that "Shaw gets impregnated by the 'Infected Bald Being' (Space Engineer - space). jockey being).

It might be a simple answer for those two scars I see. She gets impregnated and the crew may have attempted to remove the creature inside of her. But due to some type of defensive mechanism from the creature itself, they have to stop (like trying to remove the facehugger kills the host). Shaw then takes matters into her own hands and proceeds to the medpod on her own to have it removed. This could explain why she has two small surgical scars before the big scar we see later.
