(Laughs)
Maybe they could add more text after the name - "...hey isn't that the title of that film a lot of people are talking about?"

Probably for visually impaired English reading space faring Aliens they might encounter along the way??
lolz... Its just awful !!

Agreed - at face value, the size of it, rather than the fact of it, does seem peculiar:

CypherMay 14, 2012
Well, it is typical to have a ship's name printed on it's hull....... Can't see why a space ship should be any different.....

"Is it dead this time?" "I dunno, poke it with this stick and see."

SyphonoxMay 14, 2012
It's probably specifically to give people on this forum something to complain about.

JuxtaposeMay 14, 2012
.....judging by your avatar...i am surprised it's something you should complain about.....just saying....lol....can't imagine why a name on the side of a ship would upset anyone?.....would u be happer if it read "N O S T R O M O"..?

Have you seen the lettering and numbers on the side of a 20th Century Warship. Considering the size of this vessel, and the inherent pride they must feel it is only normal. I say if they want big letters then by God they shall have even bigger letters.

CypherMay 14, 2012
Well, think about it this way. This is the first ship they'd sent that deep into space. That's an achievement to advertise in 30 foot lettering I reckon ;-)

Hey Phil ...
yeah we spoke about that a few threads back when that trailer came out ... can't think of the thread name now ...
But like I said it doesn't follow the contours of the ship and it's been plastered on there using camera tracking because they haven't actually put a name on the ship at the moment ... I reckon they forgot lol ... all to do with POST though I reckon ;) ... on the 'to be added' list ...
Oh and someone from the other thread said it was for WEYLAND ... so he got on the right ship ... lol ...

Proud builders! Didn't the "Sulaco" in Aliens have it's name plastered in hugh letters on it's side to? Pretty sure it did. Saturn 5 had "USA" in hugh letters on it also. It just seems the thing to do.

Maybe some of you are right..
When I think back, things would have been so much easier if they had painted D E A T H S T A R in 50km high letters in Star Wars.
That would have saved Han all of that confusing dialogue.... and having to be corrected by the old man.
: P
Its STILL looks flipping ridiculous. Even Iranians have better photo shopping skills with failed missile test launches.

OutlanderMay 14, 2012
That's so in the sequel, the new team can stumble upon a giant burnt piece of metal plating with partial M-E-T-H on it and they will know they're on the right planet.

Dave_bMay 14, 2012
I like the way you think Outlander...........David's head will still be there as well!!

It's a nautical tradition. Every ship has a name on the side of it. Stop complaining about nothing.

CanadaPhilMay 14, 2012
Its a "nautical tradition"..... Wow.... No foolin !?? Gee.... Thanks mister.
Geebus...
The POINT was that is terrible art direction and it looks like it was rendered by an unpaid teenage summer intern.
It looks disgusting.

Reminds me of "We brake for nobody" on Spaceball One
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born.
Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.

@bbrock33 ...
Ez ... we're only complaining on how sh!t it looks ... NOT that it shouldn't have a name ... ;) ...
@Kane ...
lol ...

Jim100a100May 14, 2012
Syphonox...had me lolz twice in one thread. pretty good
on the side "fireproof windscreen" is there a "Cuddles on Board" sticker?

Mr.JMay 14, 2012
Guys...it's a Watermark, that is not imprinted on the ship. The real imprintIng of the name is is closer to the front in smaller letters and darker texture.
