MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 12:54 PMI'm going to see it in IMAX 3D at Sydney, think its still the biggest screen in the world at 35.73 × 29.42 m (117.2 × 96.5 ft) or 1,015 m2 (10,930 sq ft).
First time seeing IMAX and i haven't been to the movies in years so it's gonna be good :D

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 1:02 PMI heave never heard about Imax before prometheus.
I think there aren't any Imax theatres where I live
Have you heard of phoenix asteroids?
They glow in every color of the rainbow...they travel endlessly through space...

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 1:02 PMreally? i dont think 3D is anyway to see a serious movie (no offense). personally, if i could stand to wait, i would probably wait until i could watch this movie alone, or with a couple of friends who could appreciate it.
i saw the avengers last weekend, and i was so irritated, because everyone is WAAAAAAAY to giddy when they go to the theatres. they laugh hysterically at every little suggestion at humor, theres always someone sitting close to you who feels the need to call out loud everything in the movie that they recognize, etc. And i feel like 3D screenings probably attract these type of people to even this type of movie, so i hope this isnt the case.
since waiting isnt an option, ill probably find an IMAX outside of DC.

Well this was filmed in 3D like Avatar so i think it would be better then conversions, and there is no non 3D IMAX version playing so yea its my only choice apart from normal size cinemas. And yea that's prob gonna happen so close to release but i picked a time/day where it shouldn't be to bad i think

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 1:09 PMDefinitely going to watch it from a premium seat, I've waited to long to sit in one of the peasant seats and have all the kids who are only in it because it's a new film that features violence surrounding me and covering me in there popcorn and later their half digested movie snacks when it gets to the face rape parts!

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 1:11 PMI have tickets for the 12:01am showing opening night in Ottawa, Ontario.
I will see it on whatever screen they show it on. 3d vs imax vs 2d is meaningless to me.

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 1:11 PM@Rawr...no non 3D IMAX version playing? thats odd. the R rating on this film is a savior, at least no teens who just wanted to see an action movie and when they discover theres actually a story, out comes the words with friends.

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 1:13 PMI'm gonna go to the Ritzy in Brixton after work. I don't like IMAX versions - I made the mistake of watching the last Batman at an IMAX and sat too close - it was horrible!

Veteran MemberMemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 1:18 PMI like sitting up close but not right at the front about 5 rows or so in. Just enough so the screen is in my peripheral and I don't have to move my head. Then all I have to worry about is closing my eyes...super glue should fix that!

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 1:22 PMI agree with the theater distraction for movie like this. The reason i am not going in theaters is that I want to avoid dodgy comments from wanna-be movie watchers who have no idea about RS and alien universe.
Uncertainty is the only certainty there is, and knowing how to live with insecurity is the only security.

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 1:30 PMyou know i have a friend......and bless his soul but i would never watch a movie with him....we would be watching a dvd and if anyone says anything funny he would repeat the line out loud and then start laughing heuristically for like 2 minutes non stop....so loud that u cannot hear any dialog from the movie...the same would go for any very explicit scene of violence or anything related to sex...he has the same reaction at cinemas...so embarrassing!!......i will not be accompanying me to prometheus...regardless if his a fan or not....lol
I might go watch it alone....none of my friends apart from this dude are particularly into sci-fi....my best friend is very Christian and i dunno how well his gonna connect with the plot...tho he likes the trailers...will see?

With all the copies I own and the many times I have seen them Sir Ridley could probably retire on me alone. But no matter how much I spent or how much he made, I still got the better deal by seeing his movies.
Between him, Cameron, and Mann we truly are in a golden age of shooters.
Kind Regards,
Ron

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 5:50 PMI'll be watching it on June 8th in IMAX 3D and then about a week later with some friends who don't 'do' crowds in possibly 2D or 3D and then maybe again by myself in regular 2D. I have to be careful who I go with because I don't need to hear people talking about somehting that happened two minutes ago. I'll be okay as long as no one brings a baby, toddler or little kid to the thing who's a) gonna shit himself because of fear and b) who starts crying whenever the hell it wants. I won't be able to take it....

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 8:02 PMI saw the trailer on IMAX 3D before the Avengers and it was amazing! Better than the Avengers itself as far as the 3D looked. Pics online are nowhere close to what I saw in 3D. The bridge of Prometheus was unbelievable, as if you were sitting on it. The scene with the multiple "beings" lined along the ground looking dead was crystal clear unlike any photo, preview I've seen.
