MemberOvomorphMay 15, 2012783 Views18 RepliesI today went to book tickets for Prometheus
only to find out no 2D showing, I live in a big city with a huge cinema, this cinema has an Imax in there ffs
but I cant watch 3D!!!
1. I wear glasses and its a nightmare putting a second pair of glasses over my own pair
2. I get dizzy when watching 3D films, I just can't watch em
3. I just don't like it
now it appears the film producers and the cinemas, are money grabbing, and forcing 3D on us
majorly disapointted, been looking forward to this, now I cant see the film
this is not fair on us who can't watch 3D
sorry to rant, but really am pissed at this decision

Welcome to the world of business, make money off of who you can and make those who you can't make money off wait.
A cruel world, but one that can never be changed
Lucky for me, I'm long sited so all I need to do is sit at the back of the room (the best spot IMO) and hey presto, problem solved.

Same here in Los Angeles..at this point no 2D showings. I wear glasses to theaters and sunglasses all day.
I would like the chance to see it in 2D before it goes to the home market, just to see what it looks like large...and 3D for me isn't a plus or a minus.
I think part of the 3D reason is that the theater is the only way to see it in it's orginal form as it was intended and Fox and Ridley want that to happen for the most people possible. You cannot duplicate that experience at home.
And I agree, it's not fair at all. I've only seen one 3D film and that was Avatar and I mostly went to it to see how good the technology was. It's just a gimmick as far as I am concerned, and always will be. It doesnt add to the story, only the experience, which will be bad for people who cant enjoy it.

I feel for you, but if it makes it any better I have read that people who watched the 12 minute preview in 3D said it was way better then normal 3D since it was actually filmed with 2 cameras, even people who said they can't normally watch 3D movies

Oh man!!! No 2D????????? I also hate 3D.
A solid script and great film do not need this gimmick.

Sorry for u. Look around where i live they show 2D, 3D, Digital, Imax .. we have it all.

I really hope that this 3d hype does noa good movie t last
Too long. Most of my friends also dislike
3d. A good movie does not need such gimmick.

There should be a choice. Seems like they're forcing 3D on people, regardless of whether they like it. Strange, cos if 3D is the norm, how can they justify the extra charge for those that DO want it, as opposed to those that DON'T see the point??

I show plenty of 2D showings in Georgia. Use the link above and change your zip-code (if you're in the US, not sure if other countries have their own Fandango).
Summary: Lots of 2D Prometheus showings!!!

It's called planned obsolescence. The entire consumer electronics industry is based upon regular equipment replacement/"upgrades."

guys your forgetting this is ridley doing 3d, 3d can have various levels of depth all the way through this film will be ridleys total vision. He would not have used it if he felt it took away from the film.

I have the same problem LtKG, but I seem to manage with a pair over my glasses, thankfully.
I agree with DOLFINSQUE also.

I'm starting to get worried. I just confirmed with my local theater that they will not have a 2D version. There are only 2 theaters where I live, and the other doesn't know yet if they'll have it in 2D. I can't do 3D, and I've met other people who don't get the 3D effect either, just blurry vision and a headache like me. I just don't understand why they feel the need to do this. If it's all about money, do they not understand that they have lost money from people who do NOT want to see 3D? I used to see 2-3 movies month. Now I'm lucky if it's 2-3 a year. So many movies that I've passed on lately that they will only show in 3D. Used to be that they would have the 2D version at opening or at least 1-2 weeks after. If this really is "planned obsolescence," then I guess it's no more movies for me.

oh g-d just go to the film and when they hand out the glasses to you just smirk in a really "little prickly" way !!!

My vision is perfectly fine. The process by which they have to show "3D" images on screen causes my eyes to fight to determine what is in the foreground, and what is in the background, creating a blurry image. After about 5 minutes of this I get a nice migraine. And all of this for having to pay extra money.
You DO understand that there are actually people in this world who are physically incapable of getting this so-called "3D effect," correct?
Thanks for the ignorant response, not that I would expect anyone to care anyway, just interesting that it came from some idiot with "staff" next to his name.
May 18, 2012
I just think you did not have to call attention to it because you will be fine and there will be a perfectly normal 2d version for you to see of this film as has been made clear several times. It's just a movie "bro" !

I'm with LtKG, I'm serious;y disappointed and fucked off that there are no 2D screenings withing like 150 miles from me.
I'm blind in one eye and it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to view 3D.
Thanks for spoiling something I have been looking forward to for like 6 months.
My girlfriend really wants to see it too, preferably on release date! So what am I gonna do, yeah you go ahead hunni, watch it in 3D and then fucking tell me how amazing the film was.
Fuck 3D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to support Atomic Blues comments. We are not being awkward, these are physical problems that means watching 3D is not possible. If I watch 3D with glasses I get serious migranes and dizziness.
Im disappointed that 2D has been given little support. Yes there are options but never before has it been so limiting to watch such a big movie as it opens. Cinema's want us to support them but how can we when the support is not returned?
