MemberOvomorphMay-16-2012 5:56 AMI know it seems quite obvious, but picture this. You're out on a lovely drive through a barren wasteland and happen across a seemingly alien ship. You and your lovely wife tell your children to wait in the transport while you investigate.
Somehow, the wife was able to pull her husband out of the alien ship and back to the car, where Newt saw him with the facehugger on his head.
Now, I'm not saying they got in the same way as the ppl from the Nostromo, I'm not even saying they went to the same room with the same hole and went down (because if they did, how did the guy get back up, how did the woman get the man back up, and how on earth did they get down!)
Maybe there was a stairwell or a ladder or something. Kane was winched down into this massive area, and unless the colonists just carry winching equipment around with them, how...wha...huh?
Ideas? Thoughts? I'd love to know what some of you think.
Cheers all

MemberTrilobiteMay-16-2012 6:27 AMRidley has recently stated that the derelict was a bomber of sorts carrying a large cargo of Alien eggs.
Therefore, in 2122 Dallas, Kane and Lambert entered the derelict through one of the Vagina entrances, which ultimately led them upwards to the pilots room, from there Kane was winched down a hole, near the mummified remains of the SJ and its suit, into the womb/cargo bay of the ship where the eggs were stored and protected by a thin layer of blue laser-mist.
However, by 2179, the hammer arm of the the derelict had collapsed, allegedly due to volcanic activity, and it was through the opening of the hull in this arm that the Jordens entered, therefore one would assume they had immediate-ish access to the same cargo bay. From there I suspect something caught the wifes eye while the husband approached an egg, his muffled scream as the Facehugger lept up at him attracting the wifes attention. Then fearing for husbands and her own life, she drags her husband back to the truck and radios in a mayday.
Seems simple enough to me.

MemberOvomorphMay-16-2012 6:49 AMOMG...does anyone hate watching A.2 just because of that kids horrifically ridiculous ear piercing fake screaming? I have to mute every time she starts that...
I really hate that casting in the movie, sorry to say...
But, to your original story, I've always wondered how they got in there so easily...

MemberOvomorphMay-16-2012 9:20 AMsnorkel...They don't seem to show either arm as having collapsed in the film, do they? Or is is supposedly just a small portion of the wall surrounding the "egg pile" that allows them easier access?? where is that quote from, btw?

MemberOvomorphMay-16-2012 2:32 PMSupposedly there's a comic book that covers Newt's story and how the colony meets the Xenos. Would love to get a peek at that myself.
Any fanboys/girls here the proud owner of said comic? Let me glare at you with fangirlish envy:

MemberOvomorphMay-16-2012 3:52 PMAnyone ever think that maybe after Kane was attacked, maybe they just left the wench and line setup there because they had to carry kane back to the ship?

MemberOvomorphMay-16-2012 4:07 PMNewtella, I think that I have that comic, I have basically all the Alien comics minus all the crossovers, what can i say I love Alien lmao
Back to topic, from the Aliens laserdisc I don't really remember when they mention how the father got to the eggs and gets "hugged", but I do remember that in the laserdisc that once the mother called for help a whole bunch of people went to the derelict and they also got facehugged, it was in the first draft of the script but then it was cut out for time I guess...

Awesome answer. Also consider that the gravity is a little lower on that planet which helps to drag the victim back to the moon buggy.

MemberOvomorphMay-17-2012 9:19 AMHey, folks! Long time listener, first time caller!
That comic book series is called "Aliens: Newt's Tale" and it's a two part series. I have the first issue and it's heartbreaking. The kid sees her little brother destroyed by a xeno before her eyes. Terrifying stuff. The story shows how the colony became overrun.
Very nice artwork and worthy of your time if you want to know more about Newt and just how much of a survivor she is.

MemberOvomorphMay-18-2012 10:19 AMHello, hello. I've been hanging around here for the past few months, just reading the posts and theories. I was finally compelled to register when I heard you mention Newt's Tale.
I remember Newt's Tale being released just before Alien3 came out 20 years ago. I actually found it on youtube where somebody has made a video of the comic. The link is Newt's Tale

MemberOvomorphMay-18-2012 1:50 PMThank you, Ladyj78. They did a nice job too, complete with accompanying Aliens soundtrack to set the proper mood.
Too bad the humans don't look anything like the actual Aliens cast, but that's par for the course with a lot of comic art.
