I've read a couple of discussions about the cobra aliens .(if you will). and I don't think these things are what everyones thinking they are. I've read some early dark horse comics invovling the space jockeys and some of the other creatures they have encountered, I believe the are just another creature all together! You have to take into consideration that the space jockeys or planet engineers come into contact with thousands of species, thats what they do. In one dark horse i read they had a planet where there were even more terrifying creatures than the xenomorphs. these creatures were a lot like them but they were ten times worse for us. and they actually preyed on the xenomophs, the xenos were actually afraid of them. maybe thats what we are seeing here ,maybe not though all speculation!

To shaw's sweet baby i don't think RS would duplicate a comic but i think its possible to use aspects of diffrent stories to make a movie like this. look at the space jockeys. there back story is certainly starting to shape up from past comics.

so you are saying the cobra thing is a possible parasite to the adult xenos? I thought I read somewhere (Alien time line??) that there were dead worm like creatures found near the eggs...have been wondering if these are those same worm like creatures...perhaps they prey on the eggs while they are in stasis?

Dude... Forget everything about the comics you've been reading because this is not where RS is heading with this film. This is gonna be original and I'm pretty sure that RS would never even think about making references to related stories such as the comics or the other alien films in the series accept for the first one which he made.

I don't think so Othaking. To me the center of the "cobra" looks pretty similar to the center of a facehugger. the Giger Vagina if you will. and I slowed the video down has much as I could. It clearly (I think) enters' someone's suite. To similar to a facehugger for me to dismiss it as just another species. Human DNA, or David's tampering ("big things have small beginings") change the "cobra" to the facehuggers we know.

Kage You might be right, but its to early to speculate that far, I just can't see Rs doing a alien movie prequel like that, he's already said we won't see the alien in this movie

@Othaking: No one knows what the origin of the SJs is yet. Everything that has been written in here is just theories. Nothing is clearified yet.

I want to see the connection of eggs in aliens movie and the prometheus. I have that question unanswered for quite some time.

@Othaking - "I just can't see Rs doing a alien movie prequel like that, he's already said we won't see the alien in this movie". That doesn't mean we wont see a prodecessor to the alien. I'm pretty sure that the Hammerpede is some sort of early stage to the alien and that the creatures change when they get in contact with other species.

It looks as if 'ol Hammerpede kills Milburn, and from whatever happens from that attack it becomes something that can then mutate Fifield. I gotta see this!

@Othaking, except that the Big R did say the last 10 minutes would tie into Alien. And don't forget the SP sitting in the wormhole gun does have a chester burster come out of him. or.....maybe that would be the 2nd prequal....:) damn you guys and all your speculating....I CAN'T WAIT!

The Cobralien (cobra + alien = ), could just be a guardian of the temple. Like snake placed around burial sites, or the myth of the white killer apes that protect the mines of the lost city. The fact that the second victim returns to the ship alive and attempts to kill everyone, indicates to me a parasitic directive implanted in the mutated crewman.

maybe he tries to kill everyone because he knows whats going to happen. you know where in all the aliens, anyone who is impregnated says "kill me". maybe the same idea where they are trying to kill everyone before they are all infected.

@Patch Maybe the cobra is a defending mechanism as you say, and it could wake up the SJ or warn it somehow.

I just think that the temple is a mass of technology, not having some extremely nasty guards around while the SJ take a nap would be a bad idea. Like organic landmines... surprise!
