Atmospheric Processors?

Prometheus Forum Topic

While looking on the media section on here today, I noticed a concept art looking pic labeled "Weyland Terraforming", that clearly had atmospheric processors from "Aliens" in it, as well as some vehicles with similar designs as the ones in that movie as well. Is that legit media from 20th Century Fox in connection with Prometheus? I could have sworn I read something about RS saying that Prometheus would sort of distance itself and Aliens from the other sequels....

he wants to distance himself from the actual creature from aliens, thats my interpretation anyhow from what he has said. he is however using the Weyland company and the Weyland tech so yes I'm sure there are references to atmospheric processors and other gadgets in the film and other promotional media (pictures etc.)

Clearly Scott has accepted Camerons cannon from Aliens. Scott has incorporated a great deal of the back story on Weyland from Camerons vision of it, I think it is clever and a smart approach. The two films are very good and different, they link well to each other and embracing that link instead of ignoring it, is bright.

I'm definitely all for that. I loved both of them in different ways, but those were the only 2. The others were a huge disappointment, and shouldn't have ever even happened in my opinion. I've already heard some talk about Cameron being considered to do a Promethus follow up, but I won't get excited about that until I see how this one works out....

I think it's important to remember that the viral marketing of this film does not necessarily mean that ALIENS is cannon to Scott. Would it were, but FOX is running the marketing, not Scott. He is likely involved to a degree, and has some level of approval. That does not mean that he embraces it. Although he did add the D to Weylan. I think it is more likely that they ran this stuff by him and he didn't see it as that big of a deal or wasn't even aware of where it came from.
