MemberOvomorphMay-19-2012 2:54 PMI was wacthing Aliens last night and noticed something peculiar. While Ripley was giving the marines the briefing about the xenomophs towards the beginning , one of the marines say's something like (and this is not word for word) "Oh cute, she saw and Alien" Almost like aliens are a common occurrence for humans at the time or at least they've fought them before. another example of this is in another scene one of the marines say's "So is this going to be another bug hunt?" Further suggesting they have battled with extraterrestrials before and they've been insect like similar to the xenomrphs. I know they never encountered xenos before, but have marines gone to war with or maybe even wiped out entire alien species. Or even better, if you believe that that predators are in the same continuity, have humans come in contact or even formed alliances with predators, seeing predators are also somewhat bug like all the aliens humans have fought seem to also be insectoids? Tell me what me what you think.

MemberOvomorphMay-19-2012 3:23 PMTHANK YOU FOR POINTING THAT OUT!, i too realised that from the aliens movie
i think its either one or two reasons for this.
1) Yes the other worlds they have some nasty bugs on them
but nothing compared to the xenos
2) Humanity hasnt encountered one yet, but everytime they, the marines are sent out to investigate or scout, they have turned up empty handed to point where everything seems like a wild goose chase, they essentially see it as another pointless mission, "like oh boy hear we go again another bug hunt"
But the question that bugs me is, why is there a fighting military presence with various guns and weapons in space, i guess to crush any unruly colonists.

MemberOvomorphMay-19-2012 4:08 PMI've mentioned this before, but to strengthen the idea, if not all out prove that they've found alien life at the time of ALIENS..... They ( the colonial marines ) have a further conversation about "Arcturian poontang" and not knowing what sex they were...

MemberOvomorphMay-19-2012 4:55 PM@Mithra Hmm, but are Arcturians a whole alien race, or is Arcturia just a human colonized planet and poontang is some type of wild animal there?

MemberOvomorphMay-19-2012 7:56 PMThe way the marines were talking, it seems they've encountered other alien species on colonized planets, but they've been non intelligent or very threatening species. "Bugs". They've become exterminators instead of soldiers. I believe poontang is slang for sex. Usually with prostitutes. That's what the marines meant when they spoke about getting that Arcturian poontang.

While poontang is slang for sex, or more specifically for vagina. The fact that gender s irrelevant in their case implies that it is a different species.
Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!

MemberOvomorphMay-19-2012 9:57 PMWow, never considered that poontang could be sex. Thanks for pointing that out!

MemberOvomorphMay-20-2012 4:14 PMNo, no trolls here, just a little bit of curiosity.
I have considered this notion from Aliens a while back. Being military myself I can say without a doubt that they were being Sarcastic at the moment with the whole alien idea. As far as weaponizing space, I'm sure there are alot of worlds out there that are colonized, thanks to weyland/yutani terraforming technology (terraforming...knowledge from the gods??) it would seem natural that space marines would be called into action to quell the unrest should any arise...alien 3 is proof of a prison planet.

Id Rather Be Eatin Something Else
MemberOvomorphMay-20-2012 6:59 PMMaybe the colonial maries had to goin and help reduce planetary resistance by "clearing up resistance" with regards to hostile species, of any kind, if any. Such as they had to do in Avatar, at least had to do in their eyes. The 'creatures' ont the reciveing end of a gun and any thing else won't necessarily see it that way though will they!
