MemberOvomorphMay-25-2012 8:44 AMI've just gone to check out availability for IMAX tickets at my local cinema (Odeon Derby UK), to be told they won't be showing Prometheus on IMAX screen until August..........so I checked Cineworld in Nottingham (a fairly large city) to be told they are not showing it at all on IMAX. I've managed to get tickets for opening night in Sheffield on IMAX, some 40 bleeding miles away, but what in the name of all that is holy is going on with Odeon and Cineworld..........I though if ever a film warranted an IMAXpremiere it would be this!!!! Proper pissed off I am!

MemberOvomorphMay-25-2012 8:51 AMHello my fellow Derbyshire type.
I'm surprised the Odeon at the Meteor Centre even has one!
The IMAX in Sheffield isn't great tbh. Saw avengers there Put me off the IMAX screening of it. It's just an upgraded screen.
Would it have not been better to try Birmingham or Leicester?

MemberOvomorphMay-25-2012 8:56 AM@MVMNT sorry chap, Showcase in Westfield, not Odeon. Too late now, booked tickets for Sheffield:( Does make you wonder what's behind the decision not toopen on IMAX, I just don't get it!

MemberOvomorphMay-25-2012 9:05 AMNot sure why people are so bothered by IMAX showings the films gonna be great anyway IMHO.
I've got my tickets for the midnight showing Thursday/Friday 12:01am showcase de lux.
That way I can walk into town, enjoy , walk back and still be ready for work the next day.
Can't wait !

MemberOvomorphMay-25-2012 9:20 AMDont be worrying - all iMax is, is a huge screen with surround sound.
If your cimema is showing the movie in 3D it has to be a 3D digital projector so the quality will be the same and if you are visiting the No 1 screen in a good cinema then the screen should be a good size.
I've been to an imax theater and all I noticed was a huge screen, I'd be just as happy to see Prometheus on a big screen as long as it's projected in digital 3D

MemberOvomorphMay-25-2012 2:36 PMI took my then 3 year old daughter to the IMAX in the Science Museum in London @ xmas to see " 3D santa vs the snowman". the 3D was so impressive, objects flying all around the theatre, that she puked over the people in the row in front within 30 seconds!
lesson learned the hard way.

MemberFacehuggerMay-25-2012 3:21 PM@ Fury 161 - I'm grabbing the midnight showing at Star City on 31st/1st, then a 3pm showing on the 2nd. I was going to grab the same showing as you at the IMAX on the 1st, but my parnter already thinks im a nutcase seeing it twice in two days, so couldn't pull it off....
Enjoy anyway fellow Brummie......

MemberOvomorphMay-28-2012 3:33 PMIMAX is a little more than a slightly larger screen. Your entire peripheral vision is filled with the screen and more sense of being present is perceived. I consider it more valuable than gimmickey 3D which is rarely ever utilised properly.
A huge shame it's not on in Derby's IMAX. :(
