The Big Head

I don't think there was any spoiler or hint or theory about more than one temple. I do think that there is ship attached to the basement of temple or maybe backdoor.

Yeap - look through the vids and you will see that when the ship Is about land there are four / five temples all in a line

Because of the Big Head - I can't think of any other explanation for the head - its not ego - the jars have a purpose - to change any living thing into blue guys

Word on the street (which means I can't prove this) is that the head either speaks or moves. It may be some form of interface.

or... the head is there as a symbol for any visitor as of who's in charge of that place. I would do the same thing: put an enormous statue of my self and let those aliens contemplate it in awe... then I would demand ritual sacrifices of their offsprings and a lot of virgins to sooth my god-like anger. seems fair.

It's interesting. Personally, my only problem with the suggestion is that it would mean there are urns as far as the eye can see in that place....that all lead to the same thing. From a Story point of view, that seems a little wasteful... My own hope would be that the relationship between urns and Head and, (given the huge numbers of them), the inter-ratlionship between individual urns and Head is more complex and unpredictable.

What happened to that rumor that the head pilots the ship? It was one of the first bits of information I remember reading about the film.

The Head speaks? "imagines head singing I'm too sexy for my head..." Maybe the Head is there to imprint its image onto the contents of the ampullae, like a mother bird to her chicks. Then again, from the way the holographic engineers are running, maybe not...

Perhaps, in a sense, (as it sings them a lullaby) LOL! If that head starts talking, I might have to get up and leave, as I roll on the floor laughing. "I am the alpha and the omegaman! Bow!". Or better yet, it begins to hover and chase the crew! "Come back here dammit!" Like in that weird Sean Connery movie. I also rather liked an idea someone else had earlier which was basically saying that the contents of those ampules were specific to that head, with the underlying thought being that the other temples may have other "idols" which had their own ampullae, and maybe different nasties.

the head being alive is a creepy idea which I like...BUT...if handled wrongly then it will be comical as people have mentioned

Any chance the head was taken from Earth as a gift or stolen?

In looking over the thoughts in this thread there were some ideas I had not considered. The Big Head is there but is the most inanimate object around. Yes the wall murals don't move but the details it provide create an illusion of being a living display of a story. The Big Head seems to be made of stone(but no testing is done) The Big Head may be solid or hollow It certainly is displayed in an noticable position saying this is important. It is just the head. No arms or legs or even a torso to be seen. That means to me the head is the most important body part of the individual either a god or engineer. As I recall just about everybody was in the room and we learn so little of the Big Head. Maybe it is just a large, expensive Icon that is just a set decor item. I don't think so!
