PROMETHEUS started in France: 1st report

So why did you post this, to shit on our hopes for the film?

OK, so instead of the usual bland "it was great!" "it was shit," stuff we've been seeing, hows about an actual REVIEW of the movie with some details? I'm waiting on at least 3 other people that claim to have seen it to give me a description of the creatures. Reckon you can do that?

Well the guy just gave his opinion Cypher, whether you agree with it or not its irrelevant. He gave out his 2 cents though he did not mentioned the creature, not even professional critics have mentioned it as well. Hell, even fan are shitting on this film looks like its not going to be up to par...

Hello i have just seen it this morning.. It is a great film. Good actors. Exellent camera view. The problem is that the film it too short, need 15min more. One moment i thought that ridley was a wonderful film maker cause the elements run like a swiss watch . But at on other moment i saw how fox cutted some scenes that were evidently important for the senario.. RS has again some secret behind the head... It is a strong immersion film in 3d. You.ll love it, sure.

There's a Status Update section for stuff like that though, I understand people are entitled to opinions but so far every person that claims to have seen this has not responded to any of my questions about it, leading me to think they are either a) full of shit and simply trolling or b) just being jerks. Am I not allowed to request an actual review? With a few details to prove it's legit? Sorry, but I think it's a bit rude for someone to say they've seen it and just put something like that up instead of going into a bit of detail. @Blood, the nastiest one :-D

The creatures are not the best element of the film. The best thing filmed is how the tail goes wrong. Very bad creatures is for prometheus 2 . Maybe

These are the facts: you'll get your precious Alien link don't worry about that... BUT you won't get any explanations regarding the SJ motives or what the temple is used for. Personnally i was satisfied and blown away. The main reproach i would make is that there is too many situations which are not clearly linked together. For instance the cobraliens do not play a major part in the movie. By this i mean they only infect Fifield and the other (i don't remember his name). Which results with one death and the "mutation" of Fifield without any further evolution... pity. Like i said a few days ago David is the key: He plays God by infecting Holloway. Then he(Holloway) has sex with Shaw, resulting/Creating the newborn Cuddles. The auto cesarian scene is quite hard to see (especially the stapling to seal the wound). One thing that bothers me is that David doesn't seem to care about cuddles. Why did he do it in the first place? But we get to see what i would call a BodyHugger and a charming proto-xeno... And that was cool...

To conclude i would say it's a great scifi movie which spreads in too many directions though. Don't look for clear explanations: you won't get any... sorry.You'll have to guess for yourselves. It has marvelous visual effects, great characters and ambitious expectations: but it leaves too many questions unanswered.

You'll see the first stage of its creation and his look was awesome... Then David and Shaw take off in one of the SJ spacecraft to go to the SJ's homeland... maybe LV426 who knows. I think the major problem with this movie is that WE were expecting too much... I think Prometheus 2 will be a great sequel. I really expected the cobralien to be the ancester of the facehugger but that's not the case unfortunately. Cuddles will surprise you very pleasantly...

So we won't know why David does what he does? it's not ordered by Weyland?

Everything he does is directed by Weyland... From when he steals an urn to Holloway's infection. The only thing that bothers me is that after Saws escapes when he wants to put her in cryosleep he doesn't chase her. She goes to the med-pod to have an auto-cesarian then she gets out leaving Cuddles inside the med-pod. Nobody cares about it until it grabs the SJ at the end. These are the only inconsistencies of the movie i think...

It's not inconsistent, there was a lot going on and she thought the thing was dead. But I agree that the scenes surrounding the medpod scene felt rushed. Before you had group of people, then when she passes out, everyone seems to act alone and no one cares about her, and actually turn against her. I think they cut too much stuff there. ***SPOILER*** And proto-alien is a name I came up too, and it's perfect for this. Also body-hugger is cool.

[b]Finally, the long awaited "Prometheus" is finally here! And frankly, it's excellent. is terribly distressing atmosphere, it is anxiety-producing, it's dark, is never really safe person in reality and in camera of the vessel, and then the "cave" multiplies this anxiety by 100! Side players, everyone is very good in my opinion, in particular Noomi Raptor who knows so well convey his emotions and Michael Fassbender who is perfect in its remote and graph character. According to what is in the history, I want too much to be said, but be aware found some answers and found themselves with new mysteries! Thank you Ridley Scott.... it is plain that a suite Prometheus should see the day... good movie has all... Nice Cote d'Azur[/b]

I saw it in Paris. I don't see a lot of mistakes actually, but I agree on the fact that there are a lot of questions left unanswered. I have a feeling that David was acting not only under Weyland's instructions, but there was some part of him wanting to do what was done to him : to create SOMETHING. I still have a lot to think about. I still don't understand if the bioweapon is the ancestor of the xenos, and what it is that killed the engineers. By the way, I think the engineers were very realistic and well presented, like us, but not quite. I think they knew how devastating the xenos are (remember the mural in the chamber's wall), but I can't find the link yet. Please help with theories, or maybe I missed something from the movie.

I like the take on the movie that David has the desire to create something, as humans created him. Perhaps the ol' emotion chip wasn't such a good idea?
