MemberOvomorphMay-30-2012 1:29 PMI was watching Alien Director's Cut on Max the other day and I thought, wow Weyland was brutal in their shuttle design for the Nostromo. If you were a crew member and you knew you were about to go into deep space with ONE emergency shuttle that only holds 2 people, you'd have to be on edge the entire trip.
I mean Weyland has all this money and this great big mining craft but was too cheap to make a shuttle big enough for 4 more people. Yikes.
OR...
Was it a matter of being cutthroat & wanting juuuuust enough space for Ash to bring back 1 infected body, so they stuck them with a twin size over a king size?
Either way, Weyland is my nominee for most ruthless company in the universe toward their workers, next to Apple, and African diamond harvesting & WV coal mining business. LOL

MemberOvomorphMay-30-2012 2:08 PMJust a little clarification.
The Nostromo has two shuttles, the Narcissus and the Salmacis, but the latter is out of order.
This is somehow even worse, though! Bad bad W-Y!
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born.
Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.

MemberOvomorphMay-30-2012 3:04 PM@Charles Monty Weyland (now with Major Spoiler!) I should be shot for leaving out Haliburton, but they are so ruthless I kinda put them up there with The Empire and The Darkside. :)
The 2 shuttles is news to me. Was it in the movies and I missed it?

MemberOvomorphMay-30-2012 3:29 PMThere is actually no mention of the second shuttle in the movie, but there is on the official designs of the Nostromo, and the "technical" drawing of the ship included in the book Alien Vault shows it. In the end they decided not to use it because it would have been too easy for the crew to abandon the ship.
I don't remember if it's mentioned in the original script or in the novel by A.D. Foster.
