Underwhelmed...

yep. if you watched the trailer (as I did a month ago with NO knowledge of such a film being made, and a big fan of original Alien) then, like me, you would be dying to watch a film full of suspense, mystery, grit, believable characters. Wasn't the case. I didn't go in there for an alien prequel. I went in for that feel that I had when i watched the original alien, and as a result, underwhelmed and mildly embarassed. BUT: like Dr Shaw, I want to know more and why...so if Scott can get the script right, minimise the hollywood bullshit (cobra scene "dumb" scientist and cringeworthy joke / bet amongst crew members (how can they do it and not feel embarrassed!), not rush scenes.....then viva la sequel....for that sequel to be special, it has to learn such lessons, and, for me, go back to that original, for that suspense factor. Nice try with getting the alien fanboys all excited with the trailer.

I'm with you. Great visuals, lousy script, lousy dialog. Count me out for any sequels. They don't make movies anymore.

Well LOST guy was involved in the movie - so pace and the dialogue was likely to suffer. RS did his job with keeping the scenes and for which i guess people are satisfied with SJ and visuals. So in next prometheus, I guess Lindeolf should be out or else that story will drop on 1 star or maybe will be compared with battleship.
Uncertainty is the only certainty there is, and knowing how to live with insecurity is the only security.

I have just been to see this, and completely agree. Great camera work, great visuals, the script is a crock of shit and as for the ending, WTF.

[/quote] NO you can't put this on completely on lindeolf, ridley was head of this movie project so he should have been smarter to realize that the script weren't very good and hire a new script writer or rewrite some parts

he was smart to realize this film had to be overhyped in order for it to sell.

Totally agree. I was really disappointed. Yes, great effects (apart from the face/helmet scene and awful cgi 'alien' at the end) but the script and dialogue was AWFUL! Vickers was not a believable character. Thankfully Rapace and Fassbender save the day, but the jokes and 2d characterisation was very poor. The caesarian scene was good and there were other good bits, but this more Aliens/Avatar than Alien/Bladerunner, which is what I feared. I would give this 6 or 7 out of 10 max.
