Just some hours ago saw Promethues. I must admit, regardless of all factors which can be taken into consideration, i wouldn't say that the film actually exceeded expectations. Whether or not it just might have met them I haven't yet decided, however what I can say, however what i can opine on is that the film weren't more remarkable than ever I'd have hoped for it to have been.
In terms of visuals, in this regard the film was in fact awe-inspiring. From the ship prometheus to the derelict spacecraft, from the droid david to the Engineers, from the interior of that of the ships to that of the interiors and exteriors of the alien planet itself - indeed, of that of just space itself - of all of this, of all of these visual facets of the entire movie i do think a certain bar has been raised. In terms of just space, in terms of just this in itself I do genuinely think were a better depiction and experience to observe than that of literally any other science-fiction film.
Very ending were superb - not necessarily the ending in broad terms, just referring to the actual very ending - think a sequel a worthwhile venture. Some fair things about the film were there to have not inspired much in me - however the very ending i do think made up for some of the overall narratives other shortcomings.
Some good ideas - david's point to holloway of the relative nature of being a God - creating robots for its own sake, merely because one can - actually a decent idea deserving some real contemplative thought.
