Ahhh, I remember this bit. I think Ridley was being clever here when David was looking at the goo, I was half expecting a Xenomorph to appear, what it turned out to be was a goo that lit up when touched, hence when David does his keystrokes thing to launch the recording of the space jockeys escaping for their lives you see on the 'keypad' where he strokes his fingers across light up .. the goo

Lindelof Gloop, there were tonnes of it throughout this spaghetti-plate of potential that didn't deliver an Alien Prequel.
Sorry, guys, it just didn't.
But film-wise, I'd watch it again, on DVD. In fact, I'm looking forward to seeing the Alien non-prequel. And I'm looking forward to its sequel.

I must admit, I didn't understand why there would be a recording system in the first place? And if there was so much technology involved why the SJs inhabited a stone built temple that looks trashed? If there was, why didn't it just show what the SJs had been up to with their 'research'? It just seemed to handily show bits relevant to the plot.

I think the goo does leave you thinking about the Xeno - in fact a lot of that ship seems to scream Xeno - the room with the giant head in and the murals that have the Xeno aliens in - also look closely at the Engineers suits - they look a lot like Xeno's - im sure I read a while back that the engineers DNA was like a human version of the Xeno from the original Alien movies - did they steal the technology from the Xeno's? i.e. steal teh ship? or did they worship them? (the murals seem to suggest this), or were they slaves to them? - maybe in a potential sequal we would see more of them or a homeworld where we we discover that they are a different version of the Xeno themselves?
