Last SJ dies in escape pod not in his gun-chair?

How then does an SJ get into the gun chair to be discovered by Kane and Co?

I think the planets are not the same and both are different, that is what doesn't make this film a prequel.
Uncertainty is the only certainty there is, and knowing how to live with insecurity is the only security.

The planetoids in Alien and Prometheus are different. The original derelict is hundreds of thousands of years old and is probably a quarantine area after the engineers screwed up again with their tinkering. That is the reason behind the warning beacon. Why the engineers didn't blow the ship up to make safe after it landed there is puzzling though. Unless they mean to go back sometime.

Yep I just checked out the planet names and LV426 and LV223 are definitely different - I watched the movie yesterday and didn't click it was somewhere else. Thanks for that - it makes sense now.

this movie should begin with the disclaimer
NOT A PREQUEL TO ALIEN
:)
then maybe we'd be able to enjoy it more for what it is.

@allasse,
Prometheus takes place on LV-223 (not on LV-426) and Scott said that the fossilized Space Jockey performed an emergency landing on LV-426.
The Fosilisacion process does not occur in 50 or 30 years. I saw this movie and I can tell you that it is a mix between a prequel and a spin-off (no, not a direct prequel)

The juggernaut on LV-426 "force landed" over 1 million years ago. Kinda neat how those xeno eggs remained in hibernation all that time.

What's on all of the other ships on the planet though? and what is on the ship that Shaw flew of with?

Remembering it's just a movie and people make up things, I choose to believe it's the prequel. Scott is just hiding the 2 extra movies in between.
The Weyland Corporation and the Blue Man group from planet Albino sends another group to this planet to find out why they're respective parties have not returned. Barely escaping and leaving one man behind to host the queen alien which is already part human. A Blue Man is attacked by the new uber alien's eggs on the planet that was created with the snake creature and the copulation with the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. If it's just the snake creature, they only turn into zombie's like Mohawk Ginger kid in the movie. Blueman Space Jockey trys to repair the ship to escape after the face hugger comes off only to find he has a chest pain just before take off.
LV223 is slyly renamed by the Weyland corporation to LV426 after to avoid the no fly zone designation in the shakeup during the Yutani merger to make them look like they have more potential earning assets for the merger.
See? Sewn up all fine. The origin of the two mouthed evolved Alien we have all come to love. Heheh.

Oh and the hostile weather in Alien was just because the Blue Man Group's terraforming project went sour after Prometheus.
