Well blow me down, that explains a lot about that black goo
It was Marmite all along :) That stuff makes me feel as though my DNA is being ripped apart as well
It will be interesting to see if U.S reviews head in the same direction. At least Prometheus has provoked discussion, it just shows the passion that people feel about the Alien universe

I think it is. Unfortunately it's a victim of Scott's previous forays into Sci-Fi, which just happened to be 2 of the finest examples of the genre ever made! Expectations were high and rightly so. With that kind of pedigree Prometheus was always going to have such high expectations. But with such a talented director I think everyone expected him to pull it off. Not so sadly. Not by a long shot.

in my case i'm somewhere in the middle i liked it to a point its not anywhere like as bad as some make out but its not the epic i hoped for either. In time and repeat viewings i may come to love it especially if a longer cut gets released and if a sequel is made that fills the gaps prometheus left open that said i like having questions left in movies, questions not plot holes.

I loved this film, I totally want to watch it again. It was never going to answer all the questions we all had, name me one movie where you were left feeling totally content and informed about every plot, sub-plot and back story. They can't get it all into one movie and rarely into a series....Lost....its what makes movies so enjoyable.

All i wanted was a movie from Scott that put Camerons Aliens into the shade, and made Avatar look poor
I love Cameron but even terminator 2, Aliens, Abyss, and Avatar can't compare to Blade Runner, or Alien.
I just wanted Prometheus to set the bar so high that even Cameron couldn't top it
Maybe i wanted too much, and maybe 10 years from now we will see it as a game changer. I'm hoping that after a sequel the two movies together will be seen as a masterpiece

Have you seen the film????
Even the most diehard Prometheus fan would consider the flute out of place surely?
RSANDJune 03, 2012
The Chicago Tribune film critic is brutal. If true fans of the genre are upset, I'm not looking forward to reading his review.
I for one am still looking forward to seeing it as I really didn't have expectations one way or the other. Let me rephrase that please. Except for RS's genius at film making. Will I be disappointed if it's flat? Sure.

For me the flute was a slight let down, I really couldn't see any reason for it.
Other than that it was truly awesome!

The Flute yeah, well I didn't get it, they weren't mute - the engineers, as i remember i heard some of them talking.
It sure is not very good password protected.

if you like sci fi and the alien universe then you should like prometheus, i thought it was amazing, very cleverly done, not loads of cgi like most films today,
yeah it didnt answer every question but it kept me guessing, i didnt like the giant octopuss thing, but all in all a very good film
