Am I getting this wrong?

It is late and I am very tired but the movie apparently had one engineer left. He died at the end when the alien came bursting out his chest. In Alien they find an engineer sat in the cockpit....or it is a different ship? This seems toooo obvious so I have probably missed something?

the derelict/ship in ALIEN is a different ship than the engineer ship in prometheus

Thanks for the replies. I need to watch Alien again, I thought it was supposed to be the same ship! Now I really am confused. So the engineers were messing around with DNA and they created the aliens...like at the end of the movie. So how did they make their way onto the other ship? It looked like the engineers had been dead a very long time, so they weren't visited by another ship (more engineers). Unless they all had a lot of dodgy cargo and it was also unleashed....hmmmm.
