Coincidence between Engineer/SJ interior of ship - Alien Hive

Why is it that there's a huge similarity in the design of the Engineer/SJ ship interior, and alien hive. ( sub level 3 Aliens) Was it just for atmosphere? ( to make it look more alien, More unknown. ) Or is it something more?

im guessing its due to the fact they had the same designer. I mean in reality, but you can take that in a fictionall way and its still works.

Well maybe the ship's interior was made to "replicate" the conditions so the cargo (eggs) could feel more comfortable.

I always thought the ship was organic. And since the brood were created by the same aliens using organic technology you get a similar look.
