MemberOvomorphJun-04-2012 3:12 PMHey everyone - been reading the site for months but this is my first post.
I know this topic has been covered to death, but now that the movie is out has anyone seen it in Imax 3D and regular 3D? Which do you prefer?
I'm in the US and will be seeing it this weekend.

Seen it in both. The 3D doesnt come across very different in either version, maybe more noticeable in imax hence the bigger screen. Imax is better in general watching Prometheus - bigger screen, obv HD upscale, but the main thing is its louder and has a bigger bass and surround volume, this adds to the film tremendously.
Im Imax all the way for Prometheus, seeing it again in Imax on thursday, 3rd time in the space of a week lol

MemberOvomorphJun-04-2012 3:24 PMI saw it over the weekend in regular 3D. Can't say it blew me away. I actually felt it didn't need 3D to be honest. Looked great on screen either way. But am guessing if you can see it in IMAX theatre it would probably be unreal!

MemberOvomorphJun-04-2012 3:25 PMYes I've seen both...1000% regular 3D in my opinion the larger screen lost some definition. The visuals are a huge part of Prometheus so that's my recommendation. Enjoy my friend...I loved it
Edit. I've seen a few negative comments about the 3D in Prometheus. You have to bear in mind it's not the cheaper, gimmicky variety as in a spear shoots out the screen 3 times in the movie. The whole thing was mapped in stunning 3D to add a depth not really seen before. I saw both screens within two days of each other....regular 3D without contest !

MemberOvomorphJun-04-2012 6:07 PMWatched it 2D and thought it looked amazing! Scott is quoted as saying that the 2D print is 'quite beautiful' I'm considering an Imax viewing but can't imagine it looking much better to be honest!

MemberOvomorphJun-05-2012 7:28 AMI saw it in IMAX 3D last night. It was my first experience of 3D and, to be honest, I wouldn't be in a hurry to repeat it.
Horribly draining on the eyes.... Maybe I am just getting too old, but this morning I felt positively hungover as a result of watching the film. And for all that, I didn't feel that the 3D was adding anything significant to my viewing experience. I'd happily stick with 2D hereafter.
