Ok, so i'm disappointed by the film, but there are many directions that the sequel could take that could save the new 'franchise'. What if Yutani had been aware of the Prometheus expedition (this is hinted at in Shaw's viral) and decided to send a probe to LV 223 (makes more sense than sending a manned crew). The probe discovers that the planet is full of valuable mineral deposits and so Yutani sends a crew to mine it (this ties in with the idea that we mine planets/ asteroids which is why the nostromo existed in the original Alien). This scenario is believable and could go off in many different directions such as coming across the proto Zeno or giving Yutani enough wealth to buy out Weyland industries etc. it also doesn't have to follow Shaw and David (I know a lot of people like the idea of seeing Shaw and David visit the engineers home world but for me it sounds more like a star trek film than an alien one: there wouldn't be enough humans to die for a start). Thoughts?
