When the Engineer awaken he seems calm. Then he sees David and suddenly turns hostile and kills him and the humans. Is it because he sees David as abomination and that human has taken technology to far? It just seems odd that they would create humans and then suddenly kill them. Any theories/suggestions?

Not really explained... But it would apear from what David finds that maybe they planed to go to Earth years prior but off course something went from and put those plans on ice... unless i missed something.. If thats the case, then yes seeing the race you indended to wipe out show up on your door step and wake you would indeed upset you. Also maybe he could tell David 8 was not Human and if at that point before being woken up he never indended to wipe us out, then surely finding his creations and their creation are on his ship and wakes him up, that would also upset him.

Maybe he had a colossal hangover when he woke up? That'd make anyone want to rip the head off anyone waking them up..........

I think you have the gist of it. And I think people should bear in mind, that I don't think the name Prometheus was an accident. There's heavy handed references to mythology throughout. When the Greek gods realised that Prometheus had given away flame to humans they punished him terribly. My hunch is that the first engineer in the opening scene was going against the wishes of the others (or being punished for already doing so) - bit of a reference to Socrates and Hemlock perhaps. Now these little upstarts turn up on their doorstep and have made creations of themselves, thus mocking the gods / insulting their ego. So, - like David Banner in a bad mood - he just smashes what he doesn't like. If he's on his way to wipe out all intelligent life on earth, swatting an old man, a doctor and ripping up their creation (perhaps an abomination to their beliefs) is only a brief warm up for wholesale genocide.

Maybe David's engineer language attempt was very bad or he said something he should not have....

Yeah, David may have told him that he just flushed what appeared to be his twin brother... I have a dog that wakes me up regularly, barking for NO reason at all hours of the day and night. I could imagine treating the little bastard exactly the same way.

Maybe David got his translation all mixed up and said "My God, you are one ugly, giant wanker!"

I can confirm after speaking to Sir scott that the reason the engineer acted the way he did is because david said "your mum's a ho"

Now we have confirmation from Ridley that David angered the engineer by calling his mom a ho, all I want to know now is WHY David chose to be disrespectful in the first place......

I think it was simply a matter of the creations having the temerity to question their creator. Who are you creatures to question anything? I assume David repeated all the questions that were being asked. Shaw also made a mistake assuming that the Engineers would be benevolent. Who they are, where they are from, why they created us, and why they want to destroy us is their business and it's not our place to ask. The parallels to this are clear with the way Holloway calls David "Boy" and generally regards him as a creation of no consequence.
