Space Jockey Suit Is Alive

I wont deny that I was annoyed that they made the Space Jockey be a humanoid in a suit. Its not as creepy or mysterious. It would be better if that is how they looked with elephantile features. My guess the reason they made them humanoid is to show emotion in the film maybe, or to explain why humans look how we do and don't have long trunks :P However one thing I keep seeing people saying is "How can it be a suit when in Alien Dallas says its fossilised and the bones are bent outwards." Well my opinion on it is that like much of H R Gigers work, it is bio-mechanical. So in a sense this suit is possibly organic. Thus is would be real bone and tissue that a chest burster would have chewed through. Anyone else agree?

Yep thats what it is... I covered this a number of times...... Basically its like having a Snake skin suit that when worn, actually becomes part of you, so you are wearing the Snake skin just as a Snake does... Which then means that it would eventually die and look like this... As opposed to... Agree - At least I hope that is true - and I am also with you - I wish they would have NEVER gone for the humanoid in a suit trip - Certainly with CGI capabilities these days they could have made the SJ the elaphantine Gigeresque creature we all knew and loved...Another wasted opportunity with Prometheus.

... unless of course Ridley Scott has every intention to totally disregarding every aspect of Alien 79' and throw it all out the window and start over from scratch. From what I seen with Prometheus, it wouldn't surprise me one bit.

I think that viewers are trying too hard to find the link between Alien and Prometheus. Scott has stated himself numerous times that Prometheus is not so much a prequel, but a story in the same universe. Scott went on a rant about how he did not want to do a prequel because there is no surprise as to what happens in the end. WE KNOW WHAT HAPPENS. So instead, he took a story and created it in the same universe. That is the biggest thing we have to keep in mind; Prometheus is a story on it's own.

While I understand having the space jockeys as humanoids gives the story slightly more consistency as far as the whole "we were created in their image" premise, I admit that I was also disappointed by the "humanoid in suit" explanation, in a way it almost seems lazy....as if it was the easiest option to take..... When I watch ALIEN, I like to think that that's the SJ in it's biological form....only because it really does look so alien.....so much so that it was unnerving..

Well, to be honest, i think its a science fiction movie, that a screenwriter created in a cafe on his laptop, while having a laugh thinking about all the sci-fi-nerds that will be talking endlless about his creations... just like ME! MuhahahahahHhahHhahahHhaha...

I have no problems with the Suit... i like the idea... maybe having the guy in the suit not being so Human looking would had been better... But i guess when they started to flesh out the plot and tied it to Prometheus and Titans and other Ancient God like beings from the Stars/Heavens etc.. then i guess as these was depicted as being Human looking but much taller, hence they felt it right to make the Engineers look more human... My only problem was his height..... the movie played along the lines of them being 9ft tall, the suits on the Walls was about 10ft tall... But a big boo boo was the close up when he attacked Shaw and entered the Lifeboat then revealed in that scene he was 7.5 Ft tops...

after seeing the movie i'd like to add my opinion about SJ exo-bio-mech suit. when SJ sits down into his suit-chair he puts biomech-helmet, but it think the helmet if it is alive it must be made of several separate organisms which could split and open the helmet and also unite to close the helmet. so if helmet splits into separate parts ---> suit is not one organism but cluster of bio-mech organisms.
