Yup OLY,I alluded to that myself when talking about the crew of 1 having to do everything with a shipment of aliens onboard the derelict based on no other engineers seen and no cryo/sleep pods on view on deck during Alien . A poster told me we did not see the rest of the ship in Alien and that the bodies? were there underneath somewhere.....,I saw no pods so because FACTS are important on this site ,there was just the space jockey on the derelict and he had a hell of a job to do by himself... (I base this on the engineers ship in Prometius being the same as the one in Alien,which genius posters see as very important...)

I understand this is one of many ships, as David points out, but they are essentially the same model of ship. Did they decide to re-decorate and move stuff around because the feng Shui wasn't bob on?

It is a very good point and well spotted. Different ship, but why different layout. One could make the argument, that besides delivering these bioweapons, that certainly the ship on LV223 is also developing it, so has more crew, but we see a pile of them, not just 4. Unless, the 4 on the bridge are for some high ranking types overseeing the experiment and briefing the 'wipe out earth mission'. Do we see a complete view of the circle in Alien? could there be a single pod obscured behind the chair? Otherwise, why would the pilot sleep on the bridge in one ship, and not sleep on the bridge in another?

If you watch one of the trailers you will see the Engineer cryo pods rising up at one point. In Alien the ship had crash landed hence the pods were retracted because they were not in use during flight.

Different ship. Different movie altogether, not related to Alien. could be a different part of the ship altogether compared to Alien. In any event it's irrelavent because this movie is a stand alone movie. Pretty insignificant!

I had made this observation a month ago and questioned it the same. I think in the grand scope this is pretty insignificant. Many things could explain this... differences in ships for one. Who's to say they are all the same. Perhaps some are older models? I mean really, this is not the issue with the movie... by a long shot. This little detail is insignificant and can be explained away in our imaginations with ease. NOW, if the ship in Prometheus did infact end up to be the one on LV-426 then I would take issue, but it's not. So... let it be.

The best reason for the pods NOT beeing in ALIEN (as well as for why the Engineers in ALIEN is much larger): when ALIEN was made, there was no idea of "Engineers", "pods" or "crew".Quite simple, there was no story element for it. The writers made it up for Prometheus and changed the design, like they changed some more stuff just because they could. There is no sense in looking for any hints or clues in ALIEN, as that was all they had back then. The same way they had the eggs in ALIEN and the ampoules in PROMETHEUS. Just pure design choice, nothing more. Or the introduction of the queen in ALIENS, just a plot device to post-explain the eggs in ALIEN.There is no reason to believe that a queen has laid those other than the DESIRE to explain it so ALIENS could happen.Öets be honest, the pods dont have much purpose in PROMETHEUS anyway, its ONE engineer who slept in ONE pod.
