The Third Race concept.

I’ve seen the movie yesterday for the second time. Here are my two concepts: 1)The boring one – earth was a farm to grow up Xenomorphs. People are used as hosts for embryos. Why? Because Xenomorph hardly depends on what it is produced of. Perhaps humans DNA produce more powerful Xenomoprhs. 2) The third race concept. This one is more complicated. I assume, SJs are artificial race produced by a third one as warriors, soldiers Why? a) RS told it in interview, and they look like. They all looks the same, they all are male. b) The technology they have is given to them, they are not able to create. The proof is those language. Thousands of years they use cuneiform as written expression, a language which sounds like Sumerian language. We created hundreds of languages just in a 2 t.y. period. c) They behave themselves as religious fanatics. A lot of SJs ran into a Head Room (Temple), but there was no bodies inside. They nor have a teleporter , or they completely destroyed those bodies with the black liquid, which is enough inside the room. What is left? The black soil on the ground, with warms in it (We saw it in the beginning – destroying the bodies produces a soil). Why? Sjs have been running away of something and they thought the only one salvation is in that temple, cause someone told them it is so. Who created them, you’ll ask? Let’s go back to the begging. a) We’ve seen a disc shaped ship, which is not a SJs one. I assume SJs don’t use other ships, cause they are warriors only, as Scott said long-long time ago. b) We saw an ancient painting in a cave, with a person, pointing to planets. But why everyone thinks this was a SJ? Just because he is taller than humans? I suppose this is the same race, which you can see on the fresco on a ship, not a SJ. So who created whom and for what? There was a pre-human race from another galaxy. They’ve been looking for life all over the space but all they found was this creepy creature from fresco. They decided to make something more or less human like of them for hard, dangerous work purposes (bioengineering). Lately the Earth was found with humans on it (or they created us artificial to ensure the creative thinking lifeform will exists in the universe). Why SJs decided to destroy us completely as a race? Because of jealous….those creators loved those other «sons» (us) more then them, and from this point a story of fathers and sons begins, which is mirrored in a triangle of Weyland(preHuman), Meredith Vickers (human) and David(SJ), which I’ll describe in another thread later Thanks to everyone who read this till the end. -- «Ultimately all the movies are about the same: people and relationships between them, because only this is interesting to them.» My direction teacher.

you arrive on a moon with dead bodies and a live one. if it used to be a big race that lived somewhere else, we haven't seen much of them, no kids no women etc (IF they have that) and to be honest, we often say all asians look the same, or all africans look the same. they share the skintype and features we first see, but looking closer there are some diffrences.

Very Interesting!! In the beginning of the film and basically all the trailers, there is a scene about the different civilizations with no contact whatsoever, in different eras, all having pictograms of the same star map AND during the 2 year Hypersleep, David learns and breaks all those civilization's ancient languages down to square one, to find the similarities between them, and the starting point of all the languages, which makes him achieve the ability understand the Space Jockey's dialect and hieroglyphs. This suggests that on top of the fact that the Space Jockey's essentially created humans, they revisited earth again and again lending a helping hand to jump start civilization. The interesting idea is that, after such nurture, why would they want to destroy them? Why would they leave maps on earth showing where their bio-weapons substitute planet exists rather than leaving the star map of their real planet? They must of known that if found, the humans must be at a highly evolved state to understand it, and if they are a highly evolved species they would have the means to go there, and attempt to go there. So why set it up? Why would you leave clues for the Humans to attempt to go to the Bio-Weapon manufacturing planet? Also what do you mean when you refer to the 'fresco'?

Wasn't the planet a military base?? Could it be we only saw male SJ because they were doing traditional male type things like being in the military? While the females were at home raising babies, etc. (I'm a woman so no, this isn't a sexist comment)

@kirill mertber this is an interesting thread some points going through my mind big question though - Has RS made up his mind about how many races? 1. I doubt very much the being portrayed in the cave paintings/tablets is the SJ/engineer - he/she/it will be a far more advanced being - and they travel intergalactically in their saucer ships. 2. We do not know (and does RS yet?) where these beings come from - certainly not the moons involved here. 3. Neither do we know where the Engineers come from - I have a feeling they are purely biomechanoids created by the advanced race for various purposes. Clearly the bone ships are designed to carry the pods/ampules about - and maybe to earth - but are those ships up to such a journey? 4. David and Shaw leave in what I assume is another bone ship from one of the other temples. How David knows where to go is another thing. I wonder if RS knows this already? 5. Like the language idea mirill, but as far as we know the Engineers cannot speak (did I miss something in the film?) but guess they can hear from the engineer David spoke to - very weird gosh must stop fantasising but I do like crazy films and this sure is a belter in that department!

@ skuaimages 2) The answer should be in the 3d holo-map. There was 5 giant spheres inside. Each repsesents 1 Solar system (since the Earth would be a nm sized point, if it would be a galaxy). 3) I guess it's a transformed creapy creature from a distant planet (like on fresco in the Head Room). The third race found a minded ceature somewhere in the space, which looks like a giant insect, and decided to make them looks like they - human like. What For? Remember the dialogue of David and Holloway about David wearing the suit (which he don't need to wear). "If I will look different, it will makes you nervous". 5) They can. They spoke a lot when David played a logbook in the pilots room. Sounds like sumerian could: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=veB3Mwv69IU

i don't remember that part you say he played a logbook :'( And again, Janek (and others) thinks it's a military base and they got in hell. It could be, but we can't know for sure. We think they wanted to wipe is out (looks possible, reading you, i'd imagine the engineers are the angels that envy humans, lv223 had the fallen angel lucifer) maybe they didn't. why is the last one angry? "god" knows... (hehe irony) maybe David said something we'd like to know. I don't think they're mechanical though

The logbook - David step in the pilot room, touches few buttons, a hologram appears - 3 SJ enters the room, one plays flute, a 3d star map appears. All the time SJ's are speaking to each other. The last one became angry only when David started to speak sumerian language (or whatever that was). Which means until that moment he didn't knew they are from Earth. He wasn't also much surprised to see humans so far away of Earth, although we were FAR FAR away of intergalactic trips at the time he fell asleep. Which can mean only 2 things: 1) He thought he is on earth. 2) He have seen humans before out of Earth.

HEY KIRILL! looks like you were right about the third race! I don't know if your whole theory is correct, but definitely the one about the third race, the original creators!! First of all what is important here is that of the opening scene with the waterfall, space-jockey and the flying saucer ship (vastly different from the juggernaught) Check out these first few pictures taken from the Prometheus Concept Art Book, it shows that scene I mentioned above, and also a part that was left out of the movie, another 'thing' makes the space jockey drink the black substance. http://www.prometheusforum.net/discussion/1646/ This movie just got a WHOLE lot more interesting.
