I think that theres a space jockey on the alien ship that shaw hijacks who wakes up when she lands on lv426. He somehow gets a proto-xeno (or, perhaps, something entirely different) in him which bursts out and kills him while he's in the telescope chair. A while later, down comes the nostromo. Shaw turns out to be newt's mother, space jockey is the father. She takes her to the terraforming facility after escaping the alien on lv426 and a family adopts newt as shaw's dying wish. Shaw thought she killed the alien on the ship she hijacked but its still alive, and its a queen. It takes over the terraforming facility, down comes the sulaco and vasquez pwns. Shaw's genetic material is mixed with weyland's to make ripley, explaining the intense maternal connection between ripley and newt. Kay, maybe I've gone too far.

The space Jockey in Alien is thousands of years old and fossilized JUST like the dead ones in Prometheus.
