Just thinking about the concentration of the oxygen levels in the ancient structure and the size of the SJ/Engineers maybe it's nothing but I do remember a paleontologist saying because oxygen levels were high on ancient Earth that's why everything was so huge. That's all. Oh Yeah! I liked the movie they crammed a little bit of everything in it for us sci-fi junkies, can't wait to see the deleted scenes. Staff can boot me now, 3rd time at this.

Indeed, during carboniferous period, oxygen levels were ~ 40% so insects (large dominant animals on earth on that period) for exemple were huge !
