Where the hell are the thermonuclear warheads?

All the mythological aspects aside, the technology itself was mind blowing. I pored over the Weyland site in detail to absorb everything I could about tech in the age of Prometheus.
But one burning naked question remains. Where the hell are the thermonuclear warheads? If you are going to run a trillion dollar ship into deep space with a trillion watt fusion engine, you would figure a few nukes on board would be a good idea, in case of you know - hostile aliens.
So then why does one have to kamikaze a trillion dollar spacecraft into an alien vessel when a single satellite guided nuke would have done the job? Sigh.
I guess there was a need to not live a trace of the vessel intact for the inevitable visit by Nostromo, but there are other ways to do this than a pathetic, over blown suicide.
I end my bitching and wait for the sequel. Please, please, please, watch this, rack up the cash, and convince the studio suits to fork out for a sequel before Mr. Scott gets too old!
