Just returned from the theatre, thoughts..

as an alien fanboy, sci-fi nut, I would have forgiven a lot.. bad acting & plotholes - but the cynical sequel setup, no. Some parts did entertain me though, as set pieces.

I just wanted to see an inspiring original Sci Fi movie, I love Alien more than any fim but was truly not bothered about connections between the two. I was however disappointed by the poor script, acting, Character motivation etc.. I am not having a go or trolling people simply having MY opinion. I am glad someone enjoyed it!

I suppose that if you consider the movie without the burden of what inspired it, then its probably great. But if you came in wanting to see giant Jockeys and not guys in biomech suits- along with the facehuggers, chestbursters and such, then you will be very disappointed. It's going to be either/or for a lot of folks. I myself would have preferred the latter, it could have been done with today's technology.

Thanks for the review. prepare to be trolled now on this site. Anyone who likes it gets bashed. Just ignore them. Apparently people are not allowed to make their own opinion. Everyone loved the fact the SJ went so long unanswered from Alien raising a lot of questions and now Prometheu sucks to many because they left questions....????

Oh my god people, the ones that liked it say they get bashed and the ones that didn't like it say they get bashed. Lordy can people just please act like adults here?? Is that too much to ask?? Please BOTH sides just respect each others opinion, please. Pretty please?? :D

@Svanya Well said and fully agree, everyone is not going to agree with how good this movie is, but thats being human..... I think a massive part of the negative reviews is that the movie has been overhyped big time.... This has been one massive movie to look forwards to, like the LOTR Trilogy was and the Star Wars Prequels.... When a movie has such high expectations its really hard to follow those. If this movie never had Ridley Scott, if it was not set in Alien Universe and thus Weyland was some other old man who owned some other major Corp... If the Engineers ship was not the same style as the Derelict and his mask/suit was not simular to that of the Space Jockey in Alien. If this movie could then be seen as a Orginal on its own like District 9 then i dont think it would have got as much stick or critisim.... even if this movie was much better than it is, (My oppinion) it would still have a tough task due to the Hype and Expectation....... If District 9 was changed slightly to say be Independance Day 2 then it would be seen as a disapointment rather than a Orginal Story and Decent Movie...

@blood377 I like the way that the film leaves us heading out into the unknown. I almost don't want to see what happens next, could it ever live up to our imagination?

Thanks everyone who replied.. First of all understand the fact that this is not Alien. it's Prometheus, and director and company probably planned to do sequels and we will get more answers.. In fact, i like all the anticipation for the next, until it releases we will analize like crazy.. :D

@ Blood - I saw the film too, and I have to agree with you about the sequel part. I don't think this movie can stand alone by itself. It definitely seems to have been written with a sequel in mind, and like yourself, I'm actually looking forward to seeing it. My chief complaint is that the writers worked so hard to tie in the original Alien film. This was a BIG fail. Instead, it really should have veered off into its own story. I mean, it kind of, sort of did that, but the plot really unraveled near the third act of the film, and the whole chest-bursting, teenage mutant, xenomorph seemed awfully silly and perfunctory. However, I did enjoy the film and will likely own it when it comes out on Blue Ray!

Hope people didnt take my comment seriously. Its just my weird sense of humour that often makes no sense. I see myself in the "like" group now so... @ Svanya - Exactly. Thats something I wish more people did. Is it that hard to accept people have different tastes in almost everything? Flow with the go. @Blood - Definitely. I want that sequel NOW lol Ridley surely knows how to tease :(

Well i got to now.... But i will tomorrow put up a few scenes i would have added, there is nothing we can do about what scenes was shown.. But i had a few ideas of some changes i would have made to a few scenes you all would like..... i will write what i would had done for 5 scenes..... and then see if you guys think that those would had fitted better..... They will be things to be added to scenes and not replace.... Only scene to be replaced maybe the last scene, but then my Alien link scene could be set after such...... So i write them down tomorrow.....

I don't think that Alien tie in is badly done, and here's why.. The end is logical (engeneer impregnated - xeno born), doesn't directly tie in with Alien, i mean it shows an alien but it's not connected to events on LV426 and for me that's a good thing. Also, we see the same alien in the mural and that clearly says that xenos have a lot with why engeneers fall from grace, and since they hate us so much we must have a lot to do with it.. Those are all great topics to revisit in the future sequels.. Cheers..

Here they are.... And a changed end scene that adds more mystrey....... And a further end scene that would tie directly with Alien but as a Fash Back, thus set way prior to Prometheus and one that would give the fans a massive clue to LV 426 with no Xenos, no Face Huggers and would also allow Ridley to close the Alien Door for Good... This very last scene would not be included if Ridley indends that indeed the Organism at the End of Prometheus does indeed lead to the Xeno. It only works if the idea is the Xeno was created a long time prior...
