Shaw's father and the Sacrificial Engineer died similar deaths (Ebola connection?)

I could not help but think about this similarity, that Shaw's father and the sacrificial engineer died of essentially the same thing, rapid cellular breakdown. Is Ebola a remnant of the liquid the sacrificial engineer drank??

For those that don't know, Ebola basically liquifies you: "The Ebola virus attacks connective tissue multiplying rapidly in collagen. Collagen is the tissue that helps to keep the organs in place. The tissue is basically digested by this virus. Spontaneous bleeding then occurs from body orifices and gaps in the skin, such as needle puncture marks and rips that can suddenly appear. Death is caused by huge loss of blood, renal failure, or shock."

How Does the Ebola Virus Affect the Human Body?

Thank goodness (for broader humanity) that it is so aggressive (i.e. FAST) that it tends to be unable to spread broadly across communities.

Shaw's personal story felt a little forced on the plot, in my opinion. It's certainly setting grounds for more development in the sequel, but this ebola / black goo parallel is a little far-fetched. It's there, though. And we just have to say "coincidence" for now.

In one of my posts I mentioned a similarity between Ebola and some effects of the genetic engineering mutagen contained in the black goo. However, I didn't mention any connection with the the death of Shaw's father. I think there are more clues left to explore in this hypothesis. Also, I saw a recent article that mentioned a cure for Ebola.

I didn't think of that at all :s I was more thinking, when the engineer liquified, the first new organisms would have been strings virues bacteria cells etc and bigger and bigger, no?

there appears to be a bit of a HANTVIRUS (ebola) outbreak in USA, according to 'coincidental timing'. http://www.godlikeproductions.com/forum1/message1892579/pg1 There are currently hantavirus cases in: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Mammoth Lakes, California Linn County, Oregon Millard County, Utah Salt Lake County, Utah Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, South Dakota Iroquois County, Illinois

The movies will always have a difficult time with pacing when it comes to details story information as compared to books.

Think you might be onto something the scene with shaws father did seem a little forced into the movie for me maybe this is why they were there to link to the creation scenes and it gets tied up in the sequel Would this make humans a side effect of disease??? Wouldn't that be reason enough for the SJs to want to exterminate us?

Of course it is subjective and probably coincidental, but still it was nagging me the whole way through the movie. I just think it was interesting that they both died the same way.

The Only thing Nagging me during this film was I hope It doesn't take 33 years for the 2nd part if it? cause thaT WAS JUST A OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN MOTION PICTURE HISTORY IS WHAT TI WAS AND A GAME CHANGER AS FAR AS THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY GOES quite frankly Svanya, maybe the single most creative motion picture I have seen in 5 decades of watching films.

Actually, if I remember correctly, it's David that tells Shawn the similarity in those two deaths right after she wakes up, so it's nothing that hidden.

It may just be a emotional point to cast Shaw into a low spot from where she can rise and be the hero. Imagine loosing your long time partner and colleague. Then some asshole robot brings up the similarity to your fathers death, which by the way he learned by watching you dream. The similarities may also just be a plot point to support the fiction of the black goo. Oh, I believe the hantavirus is slightly different from Ebola. It is found in feces of rats. People usually catch it in the Western deserts of the U.S. by vacuuming dried rat poop which puts the virus in the air. People breath it and it breaks down the lungs. Ebola is contracted through blood contamination and attacks the whole body. Both are hemorrhagic though. Luckily no one has weaponized either of them yet, that we know of. Still Ebola plays on Scott's fear of a biological attack and the worst biotech can do. In an interview, he mentions the possibility of someone dropping a virus or bacteria in a reservoir and how quickly it would multiply and infect people. He sees biological weapons as something scary.... Yea.

@Tuvok; How would David know what the sacrificial engineer drank 35 000 years ago?? All David said to Shaw is: "Must feel like your God abandoned you, to lose Dr.Holloway after your father died under such similar circumstances."

Then some asshole robot brings up the similarity to your fathers death, which by the way he learned by watching you dream." I've been thinking about this...there seemed to be intentional hints at man's inhumanity or cruelness towards his fellow man in the film...Holloway towards David, Holloway towards Shaw chastising her (hypocritically I might add when he removed his helmet) for breaking protocol to get the engineer head, David towards Holloway in infecting him, David's cruelty towards Shaw in the lead up to the medipod scene, the apparant lack of concern for shaw who shows up completely bloody following the operation, David's cruel comment to Shaw about not thinking she "had it in her" to join them, etc., etc., I think there is an underlying theme RS was trying to make about man's cruelty towards one another..these all seemed intentional towards the larger story to me...

Maybe many millennia ago, the Engineers brought ebola to Earth to wipe us out but realized it may take too long. Around 2,000 years ago, they decided that the titular creatures from the Alien series would do the trick, but the ship they tried to send to Earth got sidelined and crashed on LV-426. Any takers?

@Custodian-

Dont believe that crap from that website trust me I went there and its a conspiracy bullsh*t and its rampant everything from chemtrails, reptilian alien bull, and somehow the government is trying to kill us. In other words its NOT a viable source for any information. They make up bologny all the time for discussion.

The Anunnaki were on the earth in those days--and also afterward--when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, mighty men of high reno

It was actually not 35,000 years ago because life doesnt evolve that fast its more like 2-3 billion years ago. Although I dont know if Earth was still volitile with toxic volcanic gases and some water I think. Anyway they seeded Earth way before mankinds DNA (Engineer) got in the mix and then develope over millions of years time.
