The Engineers are a really old race, right?
What about them being so old that there are just a few of them left, and that their plan from the whole beginning was to.. recreate their race?
First they breed Life on Earth ( opening sequence )
Then they wait patiently that we emerge from the evolution process..
Maybe they passed by and readjusted things ( the dinosaur extinction) to give us a chance to take over the world
they even payed us a visit from time to time ( wall paintings) to guide us on the path of evolution
anyways... 2000 years ago humanity was ready, they where about to pay us a last visit and unleash a new forced evolution kick to recreate us again, and.. evolve up to their race standard... wich means the end of humanity as we see it .. we where just guinea pigs to start with, mere worms meant to reboot their own race, but because they missed the schedule, we where able to evolve our technology to a stage closer to them: creating spaceships and artificial life.. Looks like they didnt like it.
your thoughts?

MemberOvomorphJun-08-2012 5:51 AMVery interesting... I think the engineer who David woke up knew that David was synthetic when he met him, hence ripping his head off the way he did LOL, which could go along with your theory...
David: "Wakey wakey engineer dude!"
Space Jockey: "WTF!!! I haaaaate robots!!!"

MemberOvomorphJun-08-2012 5:58 AMSurely there are faster ways for them to recreate more of them.

MemberOvomorphJun-08-2012 6:06 AMmaybe not.. took a hell of time to create us to start with.. remember the Head in the cylinder room? looks pretty much Engineer style than human if you ask me, another hint that the cylinders are meant to transform us into new Engineers, while the Alien sculpt and green crystal sarcophagus must be the reset button if things go wrong .. the Aliens are the natural enemy to humans if things go out of control on a planet scale

MemberOvomorphJun-08-2012 6:07 AMThe space jockey on earth looked all fleshy human like while the one in LV223 looked like it had a xeno body not a suit. I think that new skin gives it protection against acid blood and all sorts dangerous matter..

MemberOvomorphJun-08-2012 6:30 AMThe question is: what happens 2000 years ago with mankind? The engineers don't like the Roman Empire? Why are they extinct or mutated we at the time?
If Holloway didn't die we see what is he gonna be. And what about Fifield? Why is he gonna be a mutant terminator?

MemberOvomorphJun-08-2012 6:49 AMi think that Fifield falling face first in the goo and acid burned on the top went overboard a bit ... ;) while Holloway undergone a slow maturation process from a single drop inside his body

MemberOvomorphJun-09-2012 3:41 AMWhat about motivation? Wayland Industries is rapidly on its way to terraforming the universe. Wouldn't the Engineers have already did this? It appears if they may have purged all life and was waiting for the opportunity to rebuild. Something as infectious as the Alien would be hard to conquer but would probably die out over a few eons.
Also, when they mentioned the room was a tomb. Who's tomb was it? I am not up on my Mythology but was not Prometheus chained in a lake of water just so he could almost get a drink but never could reach as torture for his crime? It seems to fit the image. A level floor at his neck and the prize or a reminder of his punishment before his face.

MemberOvomorphApr-07-2013 8:49 AMThe architects admire/worship the aliens for their "structural perfection". They are experimenting on various planets to force their own evolution in hopes of becoming as structurally perfect. They are the result of such experiments but are still in pursuit of longevity and resilience. They release their own DNA on numerous planets so that it can react to various stimuli and adapt. "The titan Prometheus wanted to give mankind equal footing with the gods!"
