My Theory (SPOILERS)

Ok so I saw Prometheus last night and holy shit was I more confused after seeing it than before. Anyway I've been doing alot of reading online I think I may have pieced together what seems like a legitimate theory for all the lingering questions still out there. I'll start from the beginning: At the very beginning when the Mala'kak (Space Jockey) drinks the black goo I gathered that this is the first black goo the Mala'kak's have made and its sole purpose was to create human life. The first Mala'kak sacrifices himself to give birth to humanity. Also if you noticed the ship that is departing as he drinks the black goo you'll notice that is looks nothing like the warships we see later on, making me believe they were not hostile towards creating humans at the time. Anyway he dies and humans slowly evolve over time from his DNA. Somewhere down the road the Mala'kak's decide humans are destructive in nature and decide to wipe humans out before their curiosity of where they came from leads the humans back to them. So they alter or engineer new black goo that is geared towards breeding a bio weapon species that will infest Earth like a plague and wipe humanity out. So they start manufacturing this black goo and housing it in these vases over several ships that are to carry the cargo to Earth. Only somewhere along the way to Earth the black goo infected one of the Mala'kak's, who then possibly mated with another Mala'kak, who in turn gave birth to a Xenomorph in the Facehugger stage of its evolution. If you are not familiar with the evolution of the Xenomorphs it basically goes like this: Black goo-Egg-Facehugger-Chestburster-Xenomorph full grown. From here it latches onto another Mala'kak and impregnates it with a Chestburster. I like to believe the Mala'kak that was impregnated was the one who went to pilot the ship and after sending a distress signal the Chestburster burst out of his chest leaving him dead in the pilot seat. This being the Mala'kak we see in the first Alien movie and also the same one who sent out the distress signal. Anyway moving on the Chestburster evolves rapidly into a Xenomorph, possibly a Queen, and lays all the eggs that the team in the first Alien movie found. Now I know there is a ton of speculation as to why the black goo has different effects on different people. And I too had the same question but recently answered it myself. When the black goo met with the worms in Prometheus it altered them into bio weapons. When it met with Fitfield it altered him into a bio weapon as well. I think when David gave the drop of the black goo to Holloway it was slowly altering him into a bio weapon as well but he didn't make it that far before he was burnt toast. Anyway I believe it also altered his lil babies swimming around into bio weapons and when he had sex with Shaw she became impregnated with one of the bio weapons. I still don't understand how she herself didn't become infected with the black goo. She was never altered, she just gave birth to a Facehugger. Now I see that people are confused saying that the Facehugger was infact not a true Facehugger, and that's where they’re wrong. If you do a little research you will find that this black goo adapts to its host. A perfect example is the Facehugger impregnating the dog in Alien 3 thus giving birth to a dog-like Chestburster. So I believe this was a Facehugger born differently from the Facehuggers in the first Alien movie partially because I believe the Facehuggers in Alien are born from a Queen Xenomorph, and the Facehugger in Prometheus was born from a human. Anyway the Mala’kak’s left the planet alone and more than likely didn’t allow anyone working on the planet to return to their homeworld. So the Mala'kak we see that was in stasis was left behind to more than likely sleep for the duration of the ride to Earth but they never left the ground. He was unaware of the disaster that took place so when he awoke he still assumed the mission to deploy the bioweapon on Earth was in place so he tried to carry out the mission. So playing off of the last paragraph the Mala’kak’s knew that going back to the planet was not an option and would only threaten their very own existence. However they remembered how curious humans were and they realized how easy it would be to just lure the humans to this planet. So they visited Earth and sent them an invitation map to come visit the planet but realized later on that humans were not advanced enough for space travel. So they periodically came back till eventually we had the technology to do so and because we are so damn naïve and curious we flew out into space to meet our own demise that was elaborately planned all along. They never wanted to meet us, only lure us to this planet that was filled with a bio weapon that’s sole purpose was to wipe out humans. Anyway that is my ultimate theory. When you look at it from this perspective though, it makes perfect sense and also gives a sense of closure. However I didn’t seem to care for the cheesy ending. David all of a sudden knows where the home world is and knows how to pilot the ship was a bit farfetched for me. Too much room to make another movie, which wouldn’t be a bad thing if I didn’t have the sneaking suspicion they will ruin the series like most series do with a sequel. Then again Aliens was a damn good sequel. I would like think a good sequel would be Shaw discovers the secrets I just explained and then she goes back to Earth to recruit the aid of mankind and they set out to start a war with the Mala’kak’s. That would make for a great sequel or even trilogy. Anyway that’s my theory so please let me know what you think! Comments negative or positive are definitely welcome I like to get both good and bad feedback as it helps me alter my theory where needed. Thanks!

I Believe the First Engineer was Prometheus, he gave life to a planet, I believe he wasn't supposed to. So his people wanted to destroy what he gave to that planet, i believe he was a rouge, he sacrificed himself, his DNA mixed with the stuff that was in that bowl, and sparked life....

First of all, no one knows they are bioweapons, or they wanted to destroy us. Plus Shit happened on LV 223 when all the engineers died except one asleep. that was 2000 years ago, since then there is no recorded alien visit to tell os to go there. on the contrary, it seems about right that when the engineers got shit, humans got no new contacts (or religion /gods storie(s) etc. the more i read, the more i think RS didn't like any sequel with Aliens, and that's why he sets off a different direction involving ancient astronauts (and at the same time adding 1 god above engineers, us, and others maybe) I had a nice read, but those few things can't make your story happen.

@ Thoughtking05 get a grip on the concepartbook (or on internet) he's not prometheus. He seemed to have gotten the drink from a very old other humanoid. Prometheus is the name of the ship. And Weyland named the ship. He wanted Prometheus, he wanted eternal life.

@Thoughtking05 I think your theory is very sound. A lot of people have speculated on the fact that the spaceship that left was different to the one we see later. Maybe he was a renegade. By seeding life on earth he gave a big 'fuck you' to the other engineers.
First of all, no one knows they are bioweapons, or they wanted to destroy us.
I don't agree with you here. I think they made it very clear they had every intention on destroying us with the black goo. They said it several times and David discovered the coordinates on the ship was headed towards Earth. And the fact that the Mala'kak when awokened butchered everyone tells me they are hostile towards us.
I don't think the entire race of Mala'kak's died on LV-223. There is obviously a home world where it was implied that there are more Mala'kak's still in existence. I think the Mala'kak's on LV-223 were just a team sent there to create the black goo and carry it over to Earth. I don't think they sent their whole kind to LV-223 because that would defeat the purpose of manufacturing it on a different planet to safeguard their own. Why save it if there is no one there to inhabit it? I think the Mala'kak's back on the home world were the ones sending the signals to Earth and would wait every so many years to send another one, allowing humans to advance between signals. I definitely appreciate the feedback though. I still think my theory stands though =D

However I don't think his name would be Prometheus though, that's a little to coincidental if you ask me. But good stuff keep it coming!

@allsk8noplay Nice and amazing review, and here's my little review and assumptions after watching PROMETHEUS for the first time in Digital 3D. Well, as you said, it's quite complicated to understand the whole story of PROMETHEUS after the first time, but generally there is something that we can actually can do research about this movie. The first engineer from the opening scene of the movie did gave me an idea that it producing a new organism to earth by sacrificing itself with the it's DNA to create a new organism that share the same DNA from the first engineer. Secondly, the awaken engineer from the temple quite also gave me some confusing why it want to start to destroy humans, as janek had discovered that the LV 322 is actually a place where the engineers created the dark-goo and use it to destroy human beings, which is not the REAL home place of the engineers. Thus, it gave me also 2 theory for myself to understand, 1) There's a scene where the Prometheus crew (charlie, shaw, david, fifield, millburn ) visit the temple, the crew discovered the hologram scenario of the engineers chasing each other to the chamber where it contains all the cylinder of the black goo and the humanoid head, this makes me assume that there are many types of engineers just like we do, which actually they having some sort of war that the good to protect the human and the bad want to wipe out the human race, which the remain dead body of the engineer that charlie and shaw discover is the good engineer but it's too late to stop the bad engineer for launching the cargo and send it to earth for destroy entire human race? 2) As from your theory explanation, it could be the same type of engineers that had pilot the cargo and on the way to earth but it's infected with the black goo, while it sends the distress signal back to LV 322 and it had land on LV 426, and this is where the ALIEN story took place. As for the giant facehugger that delivered from shaw, is it make sense that the small size squid-like facehugger where the moment shaw operates her body to get out the infected fetus, which actually turns out could use for attacking, which it attack the last engineer at the last 10 minutes of the movie. The squid-fetus which I think shaw get it from infected charlie from the dark goo that causing it, and the dark-goo really is some sort of biological weapon that adapts from its hosts that explained by allsk8noplay. The ending scene where an alien-like creature begins to burst out from the dead engineer body, is it contain the chemical birth from the giant facehugger and the engineer itself and produce the alien species? question still remain for research. There are so many questions from this movie that is good to do research about, which the development of the engineers in the PROMETHEUS world is my favorite are to start with it. As for the connection to ALIEN, there are possibles aspects, but as SIr Ridley Scott mentioned before that PROMETHEUS is a whole new world to explore about, as I do really hope the ending scene it's really got a connection to ALIEN. Thus, I had to watched this movie in IMAX 3D again in next week because the effects for this movie is totally rock out, and also get to focus on the storyline again with it's stand-alone concept idea. So, how do you guys think about PROMETHEUS after watching it??

Very very intresting i must say the whole synopsis I agree with thought King 05 that the first enginneer may of been prometheus as for the only way for prometheus to die was to burn in the fires of olympus which he stole. So I suspect that the opening shows the creator enginner of the human race. The other enginners were not happy with his creation . . . a mad scientist if you will .. . and therefore he was exiled from the enginner homeworld(ship leaving at the start) perhaps the prometheus enginner made the black goo . . .and tested it on another organism from that time !! soo the goo is the fires of olympus which he stole(stole being metaphorical for stole the right to engineer life) . . . and in order to be free from his torment(been exiled) he had to burn (consume the goo) when he died his DNA produced more Goo rendering the planet a harvesting ground for black Goo that effects every species differently Prometheus just so happened to find the one organism(not yet seen) in which the black Goo created humans . . The Humans then surpassed the engineers and experiments began to use the Goo to destroy the humans by the enginners The amazing Irony in all this in my opinion is that enginners essentially engineered their own demise enginners make humans using black Goo Black Goo turns human into beasts . . .well males only(that we know off) Human embryos become squid creatures Squid creature makes alien from enginner FULL CIRCLE !! looking at it like that it simply seems that the story is trying to say that every choce humans make there is always a benefit and a consequence and neither can exist on their own without the other being present.

This comes from Thus Spoke Zarathustra: Another singular feature of Zarathustra, first presented in the prologue, is the designation of human beings as a transition between apes and the "Übermensch" (in English, either the "overman" or "superman"; or, superhuman or overhuman. English translators Thomas Common and R. J. Hollingdale use superman, while Kaufmann uses overman, and Parkes uses overhuman. Martin has opted to leave the nearly universally understood term as Übermensch in his new translation). The Übermensch is one of the many interconnecting, interdependent themes of the story, and is represented through several different metaphors. Examples include: the lightning that is portended by the silence and raindrops of a travelling storm cloud; or the sun's rise and culmination at its midday zenith; or a man traversing a rope stationed above an abyss, moving away from his uncultivated animality and towards the Übermensch. The symbol of the Übermensch also alludes to Nietzsche's notions of "self-mastery", "self-cultivation", "self-direction", and "self-overcoming". Expounding these concepts, Zarathustra declares: "I teach you the overman. Man is something that shall be overcome. What have you done to overcome him? "All beings so far have created something beyond themselves; and do you want to be the ebb of this great flood and even go back to the beasts rather than overcome man? What is the ape to man? A laughingstock or a painful embarrassment. And man shall be just that for the overman: a laughingstock or a painful embarrassment. You have made your way from worm to man, and much in you is still worm. Once you were apes, and even now, too, man is more ape than any ape. "Whoever is the wisest among you is also a mere conflict and cross between plant and ghost. But do I bid you become ghosts or plants? "Behold, I teach you the overman! The overman is the meaning of the earth. Let your will say: the overman shall be the meaning of the earth! I beseech you, my brothers, remain faithful to the earth, and do not believe those who speak to you of otherworldly hopes! Poison-mixers are they, whether they know it or not. Despisers of life are they, decaying and poisoned themselves, of whom the earth is weary: so let them go!" — Thus Spoke Zarathustra, Prologue, §3, trans. Walter Kaufmann And here is a detailed explanation of that passage as well as Prometheus: Nietzsche injects myriad ideas into the book, but there are a few recurring themes. The overman (Übermensch), a self-mastered individual who has achieved his full power, is an almost omnipresent idea in Thus Spoke Zarathustra. Man as a race is merely a bridge between animals and the overman. Nietzsche also makes a point that the overman is not an end result for a person, but more the journey toward self-mastery. The eternal recurrence, found elsewhere in Nietzsche's writing, is also mentioned. The eternal recurrence is the idea that all events that have happened will happen again, infinitely many times. Such a reality can serve as the litmus test for an overman. Faced with the knowledge that he would repeat every action that he has taken, an overman would be elated as he has no regrets and loves life. The will to power is the fundamental component of human nature. Everything we do is an expression of the will to power. The will to power is a psychological analysis of all human action and is accentuated by self-overcoming and self-enhancement. Contrasted with living for procreation, pleasure, or happiness, the will to power is the summary of all man's struggle against his surrounding environment as well as his reason for living in it. The book in several passages expresses loathing for sentiments of human pity, compassion, indulgence and mercy towards a victim, which are regarded as the greatest sin and most insidious danger.[6][7] Part of Nietzsche's reactionary thought is also that the creature he most sincerely loathes is the spirit of revolution, and its hatred for the anarchist and rebel.[8] Many criticisms of Christianity can be found in Thus Spoke Zarathustra, in particular Christian values of good and evil and its belief in an afterlife. Nietzsche sees the complacency of Christian values as fetters to the achievement of overman as well as on the human spirit.

I agree with allsk8noplay- 100%. .... However I have one theory. Perhaps, the humanoid alien killed himself so he could save the human race from being destroyed by his evil colleagues. He swallowed the bacteria and contaminated the LV-223 water which is the life source of the military base of his people.
