This film is an excellent piece of Science Fiction. The film literally begins with a bang as.... j/k. The film provides an elegant vessel for the theme of 'Questioning assumptions'. This is a critical lesson for scientists of all ages. Please provide 10-15 hours of further exploring the Lump and Getting to know our possible creators. Keyboards are often rumored within these chars. Also there is a request here for the rest of that pretty business lady, captain not really required (no offense cappy). After reading the goo debate I've decided to avoid that topic almost entirely.

This movie is not science fiction. It's a very well crafted 'sci-fi' B-Movie with and A-List budget. There are no philosophical questions - only questions about the plot-holes. I've yet to read a review by anyone who liked the film who can successfully tell me what the actual story is ( and not just recap what happens from moment-to-moment - that's not the 'story' ). It has the 'makings' of a great story - I give it that - but the filmmakers just shortchanged the audience in order to stretch it out to a sequel, and there was no resolution to anything. A story, even if open-ended, should have a resolution, and an internal logic to its premise. Prometheus does not. 2001; A Space Odyssey is a great 'science-fiction' story. It has a clean linear through-road for the story, yet still poses mystery and questioning that is not related to any plot-holes ( re: sloppy scripting ). Same goes for Star Trek: The Motion Picture ( on the similar theme of meeting one's maker ).
