In this mural, lightened, there are many more inscriptions and if you look to the lower right, you can see the original facehugger design by Giger, they say a picture is worth a thousand words.... In the end, it is a re-imagined Giger piece...as seen below: This Mural shows perhaps the life cycle and could this big mural be a large door? What lies behind it? There is more here than meets the eye my friends...

Thank God, finally a thread that is refreshing, beautiful and insightful. Just like the good old days here on the forum! Yes I see it! Very well done! (LOLOL at Giger's chickenburster, love that thing.) Not trying to steal your thunder or anything, but I circled the facehugger to make it even easier for people to see. :)

Thanks man, I sure will. So, this mural goes to prove, they have already made these "weapons" and they have been around for quite a long time....they pre-date the Prometeheus Mission and of course the Nostromo...

Yes this whole thing is about weapons that cleanse and environment before seeding life... Like Tilling the soil and pulling the weeds (humanity might have become a weed...)

Edit. (I failed to start at the top!) [s]I thought everyone was already VERY well aware of this.[/s] [s]Giger's original design was a "Jack in the box", but he misinterpreted the size that the creature should be and made it too large. That's why it was redesigned by another. His "turkey burster" also was abandoned for the design of another guy on the project. I'll have to haul out my documentary to find the guy's name...[/s] Very impressive find! I hope there is a high res of this in the book. Can't wait until next week! Didn't Giger do this for Prometheus? Wasn't he commissioned?

I see this mural as the concrete "Alien DNA", as well as other small hints but. I heard Giger had his deigns in this film but set work was done by another artist as you stated "Mr. Sukkal".

I believe he was and this was really the only thing that had his hand print on it, sadly but the concept book should have a much better photo, I have to wait till the 12th when it comes out state side, sucks...

this is awesome... also, now that we can see the mural better it also looks like the xeno could be representing the idea of the world tree or the tree of life found in many religions http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tree_of_life in christianity the tree is represented by the cross and the xeno appears to form a cross and everything above it gives the sense of a tree. According to wikipedia... A tree of life is variously a motif in various world theologies, mythologies, and philosophies; a mystical concept alluding to the interconnectedness of all life on our planet; and a metaphor for common descent in the evolutionary sense. Based on this... maybe the mural implies that we are actually all descended from the xeno and the engineers got in trouble when the attempted to steal the secrets of life from the xenos?

Awesome thread!!!! (sbordoli thinks the mural is beautiful) How about a discussion of what was sitting on the altar? It's not shown in the above production photo, but in the film we see a green gem/stone/rock. It is like amber, but green. I theorize that the 1 million year old plus original xeno dna, the "source", is trapped inside that gem/stone/rock and idolized (thus the alter) as the original progenitor back when ampule cargo used to be egg cargo. I really love how Prometheus comes before Alien, but the urn/body-hugger/super-xeno is the evolved version of the ancient egg/face-hugger/xeno. And 33 years after Prometheus, the Nostrom happens upon an ancient Juggernaut with a dead ancient engineer turned to dust laying in the boots of his "holy suit" with a cargo-hold for of ancient bio-weapons. I love it!!!!

Mr j how good is your eyesight absolutely cracking find and a great thread Is the picture taken for the Prometheus artwork book? When you look at the mural from this angle it does look to me as if it's a door? One thing I'm sure of though is we haven't seen the last of this mural

I am under the impression, it looks like a door and then that long head shape that was on the table. If I was the writer, I would have had the Dr be intrigued by that mural, and what was up there, looking down upon the urns....

It might just be that i have a one-track mind, but above the Deacon in the mural? Looks like an uterus to me, complete with follicle tubes. You can imagine the little head of deacon growing in there. Mies.

Has anyone noticed that that thing that sort of looks like a door around the pyramid life cycle is a Xeno, note the foot on the bottom left corner, and the hand at the bottom right, in the middle of the ribs is a circle thing, and the head is peaking under the arm. Sorry if you guys already saw that or pointed it out.

Where did these photos come from anyway? I didn't see them in the film, and i doubt the life cycle one came from the film since the word 'alien' can be seen at the bottom of it. Who is this Giger? (may be having a dumb moment.)

Also, that little squiggle under the belly of the Xeno, could that perhaps be a sperm? And the round thing a vagina? There are species here on Earth that change sexes if they need to, and I learned from my Alien vs Predator vs human that the Xenos can turn into a queen if they want to. And it seems that all the Engineers are one sex. So maybe they got Xenos by experimenting on humans, made these Xenos, the Xenos killed a few of them, things got out of hand and they went 'hey, let's go kill the humans since it was their fault,' or 'o-oh, we better kill the humans so this can't happen again'.I don't know, just a though.

@Brodo: do NOT even think of AvP---it has NO connection to anything here, other than coincidentally. It is nothing but "fan fiction". BUT, as for Queens---in the insect world, IIRC, a "Queen" is merely a bee or an ant that is "promoted" to be "the one" from all of the others by the workers. I.e., it doesn't start life any different than the rest, but grows to be a queen via extra food, special care by the workers, and status---with that, and I think a substance called "Royal Jelly", a wee little "normal" "Bug" grows to be a Queen... So one could think that is what happens with our own very Xenos...certainly interesting to think about!

No connection to AVP? Ridley Scott: The very simple question was “Who the hell was in that ship? Who is sitting in that seat?” and “Why that cargo?” and “Where was he going?” no one asked the question, so I thought “Duh.” It’s a “duh,” isn’t it? [Everyone Laughs] They’re all bright guys… Jim and David and the French guy, and I thought “Wow, duh.” And I just kind of say and thought about it for a while and I was busy, so I didn’t really do anything about it and then when they finally put it to bed in Alien vs. Predator I thought “You know what? This is a good idea here.” And I always thought Ridley said he never saw AVP... http://screenrant.com/prometheus-alien-connection-benk-176223/2/

I don't know if anyone noticed this yet but its an egg. Look at the door. Who ever made the door carved the xenomorph life cycle into it with incredible detail, however they left out one vital stage: the egg. They included several variations of face-hugger, proto-xenomorph, and a possible further xenomorph evolution. However the door doesn't depict a single egg. At least not until you zoom out. Instead of looking at what's carved on the door look at the entire door and you will see an egg. Its shape and the design on its top reflects that of the known xeno eggs seen in the first movie. Now, knowing that the mural depicts the entire life cycle from egg to full grown xenomorph, we need to question its purpose. If its a door then I believe that behind it lie the egg chambers found in the first movies which where never discovered or seen in Prometheus. However if its not a door then perhaps its a set of instructions on how to create the eggs and the xenomorphs using the black goo found in all of the urns. And if its not instructions on how to create xenomorph eggs perhaps its a warning of what happens when the black goo isn't used correctly or what happens when someone, say a space jockey, is contaminated with it. its just something I noticed that I think finally answers some questions.

@TConti Oh WOW! You're right when you look at the entire thing zoomed out it's definitely an egg.

I also like how in Giger's original painting, the Engineer who's getting facehugged is resting on an URN!

Has no one noticed that in the life cycle pyramid one there is a fully grown Xeno?? No one has talked about it yet and I'm wondering why it isn't such a big deal? This Xeno looks more human in my opinion, then the Xenos from the Aliens movies. And in the mural they find, there appears to be a human face under the Xeno that looks like it's crucified, although it's probably just a coincidence as the whole thing is symmetry.
