Is Green Goo the original outbreak?

After seeing the black goo (whatever its true purpose is), are we to assume that the green goo that David found before turning on the 'pyramid's' security halo projection was the original outbreak goo or what? It still seems strange that almost all the Engineers died in front of one door/hatch. That's not how a slow outbreak would kill all the Engineers. They would have been in different places/scattered. I wonder what the other pyramids dead Engineers looked like and if they were scattered about in those pyramids. Any ideas?

I'm guessing somehow those face hugger were loose as the body of those dead engineer suggested as it was mention in the movie that something busted out of their chest. Like in all Alien movies I've seen, the face hugger left behind slimy residue, that could account for the green slim at the control panel. I'm thinking the black goo is a substance that genetically alter the DNA that may have various side effect, i.e. if you're weak, it makes you strong, if you're strong it makes you weak. Which explain the strength of the snake like creature in the puddle that was able to break a man's arm. And how the mohawk guy was able to fold like a piece of paper into an overpower hulk type humanoid. Also the one doctor that got sick when he was obviously healthy. Finally how the main character was unable to have kids but was able to get pregnant after intercourse with the Doctor after he was infected by the android.

I can't quite figure out what the significance of the "green goo" was. It seemed to be the residue off of some creature that was intentionally touching the door controls. That could have been almost anyone or thing, though I wonder how it could have been "fresh" after 2000 years??...

It could have been just another living thing on this foreign planet. We have some weird living slimes here on our planet. I don't think that it's important to the plot.

@mindlab David did look at it very close and say something like "remarkable".

The color green....Its just too coincidental. Ridley scott has mislead us before. I think we have to state the obvious by its color. What else could have "hunted" and destroyed the sj's so quickly?
