When looking at the mural in the temple (of a Xenomorph?) Holloway says, "This is just another tomb." This means that the mural was of the Engineers' "gods." Prometheus 2 will be about Shaw traveling to the Engineers' home world. I believe she will find out that the Engineers tried to become their gods, but their experiment backfired. Either that, or they are ruled *by* their gods, and the Engineers tried to create and rule us in the same way. This also might explain why they decided to exterminate us 2,000 years ago. 2,000 years ago is when Christ lived. Until then, humans worshiped the Engineers. Then Christ came to believe he was God, and the Engineers got angry because Christ was a man claiming to be God, and they knew that we would try to become gods like them, just like they tried to become their gods. I don't know...but I do know the mural in the temple was a picture of the Engineers' "gods" (the Xenomorph?), and this has to be what Prometheus 2 is about!

Well that is certainly an interesting take on the plot but it is still just speculation. Anything short of some information from the director or writer of the sequel is not really definitive evidence.

"This also might explain why they decided to exterminate us 2,000 years ago. 2,000 years ago is when Christ lived." Mankind has been worshipping dieties for millenia before Jesus H showed up. It's an interesting idea but if any sequel comes down to the smurf gods wanting to wipe us out because of Christianity?!? Well, I will personally hunt down Lindelof & skull f**k him!!

Interesting idea. Man was worshipping deities prior to Christ but perhaps those were the ones that the engineers allowed them to worship - and then this so called jesus and 'god' came along and changed everything in terms of the mural - i wonder WHY it was there. and what that little green thing below it was. was it a broken egg? and why was there a big head in that room? were the engineers worshipping themselves? there seemed to be a lot of symbolism in that ship, and the mountain. there were heads on the mountain as well.

@db73 LMAO! It's an interesting idea but I can't see Ridley letting this happen to his baby, maybe something g else happened that pissed them off... Well obviously but, anyways. We've got quite a few unanswered questions: what becomes of the proto-xeno/alien at the end. Where the heck did the one guys body go, the biologist who tries to pet the cobra, what the heck is the mural for, what happens to Shaw and David, what 'creature' chased and killed all the engineers. So many possibilities for a sequel and possibly more then one if we're lucky.

The engineers did not worship heads. No advanced civilization would worship heads. But many lose their heads in this film. One engineer lost his head running towards a large head. A head appears on a mountain. A sythetic loses his head. A head explodes in the lab. So why are there so many heads, mostly decapitated, in this film? That is the question.

One mural depicted a engineer standing over an alien being. That is a story into itself. Also, Halloway going to the alter and mural and saying "Its just another tomb" sounds like a future plot point. Somehow I believe that the engineers look at the xeno as their greatest accomplishment and humans as their greatest failure. It just hit me that maybe the engineer society is split. There could be some who believe in rituals, spirituality, and seeding life as depicted by the opening sequence, and then there is the military who believe in conquering. I'm just grasping at straws.
